Voted B-52s-Wild Planet.  That said, I like Scary Monster's more, but...

Scary Monsters will probably get more votes anyway. Smile

Voted Talking Heads. One of favorites not listed from 1980 is New Clear Days by the Vapors. It's best known for the song Turning Japanese, but the rest of the album is really solid stuff.

Btw, that's one more New Wave album I have in my collection (since 1981) and am still quite fond of, but haven't been thinking
about so far. Now, I add it to my list of the favourite ones, and good to be reminded about it! Smile

I'm even more fond of Joy Division's Closer, but it somehow slipped my attention, and anyway, I consider it to be Post-Punk.

Nobody dares to mention The Age of Plastic? Quite a good and fun album. But I won't vote for it. There are two landmark albums in this list, imho: Remain in Light and Closer. A couple of other good and/or enjoyable albums: OMD, Japan, Ultravox, Gary Numan... and the Buggles, thus. I'll give my vote to Talking Heads.

It'll be interesting to see what you'll list for the next years, Paul, if you don't get tired of making choices. Smile

Btw, how did you find this album, as I guess it's little known today, even it reached number 5 in the UK Album Charts upon its release and remained on the chart for many weeks?

It's one of the first albums that came to mind for this poll before I'd even looked at a New Wave list. I remembered Breaking Glass mainly for the movie. I only listened to the soundtrack album for the first time the other day, but the title track was played constantly on the radio in the early 1980's. The same goes for Phil Oakey & Giorgio Moroder's Electric Dreams soundtrack, which is coming up here later in the mid-80's.

Yes, it's Trevor Horn & Geoff Downes auditioning for parts in a classic Symphonic Prog band. Smile
