The OPSIS project are David Montyel (vocals & lyrics), Luca Padalino (bass) and Nico Pagliaricci (guitar). 
The word Opsis comes from Aristotle's Poetics and refers to the concept of representation and the practice of staging, a decisive moment in artistic creation, especially in theater, and capable of exerting a great seductive power on the spectator. At the same time, the opsis is the preferred place of masking and concealment, which, in order to involve the spectator, hides what it doesn't want to show. 

The Opsis project therefore aims to reflect on the concept of masking and representation in art as well as in everyday life, on what is revealed and what is hidden, and on the effects of this action on others and on ourselves, and on the role that deception and staging play in the success of any aesthetic proposal.

End of Light is the Opsis’ debut concept album dedicated to Isaac Asimov's 1941 short story Nightfall. The album talks about a planet (Lagash) illuminated by six suns, in which darkness is therefore unknown. An ancient prophecy claims that the darkness and, consequently, the appearance of the stars, will herald the end of the world. The story focuses on the last moments of light preceding a lunar eclipse, when the glow of the last sun disappears and darkness begin to appear, giving way to the first night. What terrifies the main characters is the belief, motivated by the prophecy, that darkness leads to madness, inducing a bestial and violent state for which the world is set on fire in order to create light. The point of view is that of a journalist who has come to investigate the relationship between the ideas promoted by some scientists and the exponents of the cult of prophecy.

Asimov's story has an open ending, although the author suggests an apocalyptic outcome. As the story unfolds, the connection between religious deception and natural and historical contingencies is explored. This is the aspect that the band Opsis has focused on, reinterpreting Nightfall in their own way, starting from an experimental and progressive approach with psychedelic veins. The music of the project restores the science-fiction atmospheres of Asimov's writing through a proposal devoted to digression and lengthened tempos on purely heavy rock rhythms, which however do not scorn heterogeneous solutions coming from other musical horizons (especially jazz) in the arrangement phase.

End of Light creates a parallel story to “Nightfall”, set at the same chronological moment. The chorus is based on the perspective of the people of Lagash, who are seeking clear answers to a picture with blurred contours that are difficult to decipher. They will find this answer not in the madness prophesized by the sectarians and predicted by the scientists, but in a new consciousness at the mass level, in which fire takes on a different meaning: from a sign of death to a symbol of purification and renewal.
