I'm a minority of (one) Soft Machine-fans one who loves Fourth as much as Third.

For me all perfect:

Soft Machine - Fourth
Moving Gelatine Plates - Moving Gelatine Plates
Supersister - To the Highest Bidder

Close to perfection (perfect on their own terms I guess):

Daevid Allen's Gong - Camembert Electrique
Egg - The Polite Force
Caravan - In the Land of Grey and Pink

Just OK:

Daevid Allen - Banana Moon

Caravan > Egg > Gong > Supersister. In fact these are all great albums, but Caravan is top for me,

Around the dreaming spires of Canterbury, there's no Grey area regarding who's going to win this poll, as Caravan are already clearly in the Pink! Smile

The tough choices keep coming so again, first love.  This time, 'Camembert Electrique' bought for a princely 55p from Virgin records in Nottingham.  'Banana Moon' followed not long after.

Well, I'll be the first to vote for Moving Gelatine Plates, but Supersister also could have got my vote.

I used to shop at Virgin Records (on King Street) in Nottingham too. The last album I bought from there was Renaissance' Azure d'Or in 1979 after listening to it first on one of their in-store turntables. Those were the days my friend, I thought they'd never end..... Smile

Yes, we used to do the same in there.  I am not sure what the last thing was I bought from there but I used to head straight for their dedicated Virgin label rack when I went in.

I remember when Richard Branson turned up for the grand opening of the huge Virgin Megastore on Wheeler Gate in Nottingham. I didn't recognise him at first as he was wearing black-rimmed spectacles, which didn't really suit him. He should have gone to Specsavers. Geek

Richard Branson in Baywatch. No acting required as he was playing the part of himself. Smile

votes for 67/69: Caravan debut (second choice Vol 2)
for 70: Caravan (second choice: Third & regrets I didn't see Wyatt's EOAE sooner)
For 71: Caravan (and SC for Camembert, Fourth being thirdWink)
