Certainly an important part of my children's life through 'the Snowman' and 'Father (Bloomin') Christmas' and also a highly influential and thought provoking writer and illustrator for my generation with 'When the wind blows' and its poignant and disturbing story of an old couple who had lived through WW2 having to try and understand and comply with the utterly pointless and inadequate instructions for survival doled out by the government during a nuclear attack. I am still moved to tears by this book and see my parents in the characters.

A fine illustrator and story teller with a fearless approach to death and loss.. RIP Raymond Briggs

The snowmann is one of my favourits, "Walking in the Air" is among my most favoured songs of all recorded songs in all time. So by that single fact im sad. I love "Walking in the Air" sung by Peter Auty

I've been dreading this day since my youth. The Snowman (both book and film) left a big impression on me, but none more than When the Wind Blows, whose film and soundtrack got me into Pink Floyd and progressive rock in general. And of course I learn of Briggs' passing as Roger Waters played my town tonight.

Truly a terrible loss.
