Props for Ske making the top ten. It would have been nice to know that you are the one who made the list.

Yes -The Quest made the list as best prog?! I'm confused. And ahead of Needlepoint and Agusa.
Also Styx new album is number 3. I don't get it but then again Styx are a hit and miss with me.

I struggled with whether or not to include Yes' latest, The Quest. Objectively, I know it doesn't belong there but DAMN I really like it. So subjectively, it had to be there for me. The only thing I would change: Shamblemaths 2 hit my inbox too late!!!

Nice that Ske made the list, it's a fairly varied list while still being pretty vanilla so well done there. Huge minus points for calling Paolo "Ske" Botta's main band Yungen instead of Yugen. Horrible pick at #1 and gushing all over them, dear god. Worst album cover of the year goes to #2.

Nice work on the list, we clearly have different opinions on Transatlantic Nice to see Agusa, Ciccada, Needlepoint in there. I like all of those.

It's pretty obvious from my list that I am a "Grade A" Symph Weenie but I have been expanding my horizons. A little bit. My only regret is that I was too late on Shamblemaths 2. (And that damned misspelling...maybe I can sweet talk my editor into changing that...)

YOU might think it's a horrible pick at #1, but just remember one of the things that makes us human ... |

It is great to see that the list includes "Allium - Una
Storia", Needlepoint, Agusa, Tusmørke, Alco Frisbass, Ciccada, Caligonaut,
Ske. Although I have to admit that they will be much better positioned on my
list. The albums “The Absolute Universe”, “The Uncrowned King”, “Crash Of The
Crown”, “Innocence & Danger” and definitely “The Quest” will not be on my list. “Shamblemaths 2” is definitely in my top three . But of
course everyone has their own. Thanks for the list! |

Oh you're completely right, I have a bit of a blindspot with Transatlantic. I hadn't realised it was Scot's article. I was certainly too mean. And lots of people like them, just not me Sorry Scot!

No!!! It's all good. I posted it here because I know some people are going to HATE my list. And I'm all about personal growth and the expansion of my musical horizons. In the meantime, it would appear that I love me some comfort Prog, eh?

A lot on that list I don't know but then I've not heard an awful lot this year.
My current top 3 are all in the top 50 Liquid Tension Experiment 3 / Frost* - Day and Age / Glass Hammer- Skillagrim:Into The Breach After that it's BBT, Elephant 9 and Kayak probably. The Shamblemaths II album is also an interesting one for sure. It should be mentioned that the year is not over just yet! I'm very interested in Stephen Caudel's revisit of his classic 80's album Wine Dark Sea but not heard it yet.
