Many regard 1971 to be the first real year of prog (i'm not one of them) but even if you disagree with this analysis, there's no doubt that 1971 was the year that prog really took off and countless bands started created some of the all time classics. What are your favorites from this year? Prog only please! Sorry if this has been done before for this year (i'm sure it probably has!) MINE~~~~! AR & Machines - Die Grüne Reise Amon Duul II - Tanz Der Lemminge Can - Tago Mago Comus - First Utterance Egg - Polite Force Eiliff - Eiliff ELO - No Answer Faust - Faust Focus - II Gentle Giant - Acquiring The Taste Gong - Camembert Electrique Hanuman - Hanuman Hawkwind -In Search Of Space Ikarus - Ikarus Jan Dukes De Grey - Mice And Rats In The Loft Jethro Tull - Aqualung Komintern - Le Bal Du Rat Mort Magma - 1001 Degrees Centigrades Mahavishnu Orchestra - The Inner Mounting Flame Marsupilami - Arena Moving Gelatine Plates - Moving Gelatine Plates Nektar - Journey To The Centre Of The Eye Osanna - L'Uomo Samla Mammas Manna - Samla Mammas Manna Silberbart - 4 Times Sound Razing Spirogyra - St Radigunds Supersister - To The Highest Bidder Tangerine Dream - Alpha Centauri Tonton Macocute - Tonton Macoute Uriah Heep - Look At Yourself Uriah Heep - Salisbury Van Der Graaf Generator - Pawn Hearts Yes - Fragile Yes - The Album I know that Meddle, Nursery Cryme and In The Land Of Grey And Pink are popular but none really rock my world. Well, it was one of the great years so, I think we can celebrate it again, and people may have it explored some more meanwhile, plus "the new ones" like me can have an opportunity, as well. - And the limit of 10 on the former one was maybe a bit too limiting.

Amos Goldberg (professor of Genocide Studies at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem): Yes, it's genocide. It's so difficult and painful to admit it, but we can no longer avoid this conclusion.

Hi, FAMILY is a long project for listening, in that they change so much that most folks can not handle it. They kept on experimenting and coming up with some far out stuff, and by the time they got to "It's Only a Movie" or "Fearless", if you don't have those albums, you are not a progressive music listener at all! The band then changed to Chapman and Whitney and right after into Streetwalkers. The band Streetwalkers had a lot more rhythm and blues (I have no idea if those are the right terms for it), but their live material was bombastic and special, and it was quite like "Good News/Bad News" that kinda put them on the map, and mostly for Roger Chapman's (Chappo) vocals. It was indeed strong and then some! But one thing to remember, and it continued in Chappo's solo albums ... the guitar player is fabulous and does some of the prettiest stuff with effects you ever heard, and makes sure they are a part of the song. Just as good, if not better than Toni McPhee with Groundhogs! A very special bunch of folks, and Roger is still up, although I imagine that these days he's probably singing in his loo and bed a lot more than a stage! But he was, just like Joe Cocker, one of the best of the tough voiced singers ... most folks hated him for it, but man ... can that guy ever sing and bring it home!

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!
