Love their debut album Act One, very Keith Emerson (pre ELP) inspired . I was surprised to find that they have put out 14 albums in total (last one in 2012) including the very Caravanesque titled Get Your Dog off Me!

I suppose
Act One is a fun, wild ride if you enjoy prog"rockin' the classics", but there's literally too much Franz von Suppé for me. I think both the follow-up Waters of Change and their third album Pathfinder are excellent and really entertaining, though. After Martin Griffiths left the band they got a totally differnt sound, and Get Your Dog off Me! is mostly just beyond awful boogierock.

Really fine album of vintage stuff. |

The first 3 are all entertaining imo....I have 'Waters of Change' on original vinyl.

I've been a fan of early Beggar's Opera for decades; Act One, I feel, is their best (I actually love the classical music transcriptions therein) and Waters Of Change a close second. Pathfinder I used to really dig, but have cooled on it in more recent years.

Oh man, now there's a band I haven't thought about in a long time. I'll need to go listen to them. I remember liking them, but then when an old HDD of mine died, I lost their music and never got around to re-downloading it.

Huge fan of Beggars Opera for many years. "Waters of Change" is my favorite, but debut is close second. "Pathfinder" has its moments, but at least 2 tracks on it don't appeal to me. I heard "Get Your Dog off Me!" once, but this is entirely not my cup of tea.
