This thread (and eventually a series of threads) is entirely dedicated to your recommendations, fellow forum users. Please comment your top 3 most obscure albums from the year 1969; they might be albums in your collection that were hard to find and not many people know, some albums you have heard about but can never get, or some pretty wacky record by an Estonian progressive proto-punk band that you streamed online for some reason.

*Conventional albums that many people know are not welcome! LOL This is a joke, of course, you can suggest whatever albums you feel are obscure and/or underground*

From 1969?  Most record companies were not taking a punt on underground music around then so my choices would be familiar to most, including 'From Genesis to Revelation' which only shifted around 600 copies on release and went unnoticed.

I can only name one, but this one is a very obscure one. it was only available in porn shops in Amsterdam. we found it at a record fair


though it is from the Netherlands the music sounds like Krautrock in the vein of the first two albums of the Cosmic Jokers

Great poll idea, but you should have started in 2021 and went back in time. Most of the forum participants have an aversion to newer bands. I could list multiple obscure albums from the last twenty years, not so much from half a century ago.

I prefer it this way around, starting from 1967 and gradually working our way towards 2021. I'm in no hurry to get to the music of the present day. Smile

the sad thing about most modern music is that it sounds sterile due to overdone production. as a rule of thumbs you can say "the better the production the more sterile it sounds". music should LIVE.

in my opinion the best way to produce an album is to play live in the studio. not only is this the most honest way, it also adds something very important that gets lost when you record every instrument and voice separately: overtones. the instruments and voices interact with each other, and that leads to overtone fracture and a huge enrichment of sound

^Disagee. Ever heard the later Beatles album? Overproduced, big time. Does Barbara D. play live with a band when she's recording. How about Peter Hammill or VDGG? Doubt it. Plenty on jazz cats and classical musicians record live but hardly anyone else.

I have the same opinion about VdGG or Peter Hammill or whoever; I would rather hear their albums recorded live in the studio. but at least VdGG did publish some material that was recorded live in the studio

I just went through our collection. the self-titled albums of After All and Andromeda and "!" by Pesky Gee are pretty obscure too. and "Orgasm" by Cro-Magnon, which is also one of the weirdest albums ever
