Ultravox have steadly and not so slowly rizen up to become one of my topp 15 band/artist list.
They exudes confidence and also stoic calm; in how the music is presented. I have heard all the albums from debute to U-Vox so I will wait voting until then but for now its a tie between Quartet and Rage in Eden, wow not Vienna or System of Romance you shockingly thinks. I just love the enirgy and atmospheres perfected in Quartet (produced by George Martin) and Rage in Eden. GOOD luck Edited by Icarium - March 12 2021 at 03:02 |

I Second That Emotion, even though that's a Japan song, and not Ultravox, so it's goodnight Vienna from me.

Not sure about this one, Vienna is the obvious choice but Rage in Eden is excellent as well, so are Systems Of Romance and Lament, I will give it some thought.

I've only heard a few, and no at all familiar with pre Midge albums.
I agree with Alan, Rage in Eden was excellent. Vienna was also good. I also enjoyed Quartet. Hymn was one of my favourite singles. They had a mini live album (Monument?) which I've not heard for donkeys years, but I remember my friend - a huge fan - used to play this at earsplitting volume and I remember it sounding very powerful. |

I wouldn't be surprised if it's been covered already. There are several metal covers of Dancing with tears in My Eyes, I know the covers by Dreamscape and Freedom Call. Both fun.

"Mine for life" is very good and is from Quartet - shows amongst other things what Midge brought to the band, not only a wide vocal range, some cool scottish articulation but also some serious guitar chops.
hes soaring guitar, the ultraviolet hot guitar tone and the knowledge of the using whammy bar. But also nice soft muted guitar playing showing a deft hand. Very seldome does a synt-pop band score a "guitar hero" worthy track. Though "Mine for life" is not pure synth pop, as it also have elements of post punk - the bassplayin is post punk with the classic post-punk "clanky" tone And the moat important player in Ultravox, Kevin Currie, whom displays Eddy Jobson and Tony Banks like skills in terms of atmosphere-compositions and sound use, a daftness in chosing the right synth keyboard for the right effecthttps://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FPA0udh77NM |

I only know the Midge Ure era and I think "Quartet" is my fave by them. "hymn" is so beautiful and I also love "Reap the Wild Wind", "Visions in Blue", "Cut and Run". I also love the extended version of "Love's Great Adventure" which I used to own as a 12" single
