Anybody here know a version of the hit "Spirit in the Sky" in which the song fades out with the singer(s) singing "row, row, row your boat, … " ?

Thanks!

Could be fun!

No I haven't, but musically it's a great song. Love the echoed guitar.

The only other version I know is by Dr and the Medics and it's not that (unless it's been truncated on YouTube).

Nope. I know the original which is probably one of the heaviest hit songs of it's era(in fact the guitar solo sounds a bit like Tony Iommi). I think I saw something on youtube once where they talked about how he got that buzzing sound on his guitar.

Are we talking about the one hit wonder guy Norman Greenbaum  from 1969...? Folky hippie rock tune about Jesus..?
Never thought of that as 'heavy'.

Well, mostly because of that guitar solo.

I have the vinyl, which I bought at a used record shop out of curiosity because it was produced by Andy Partridge and the guy had a ridiculous hairdo. I was hoping for a hyper early XTC style take on it but it's the opposite, a slowed down lethargic take on it. It fades with a repeat of "Go to the place that's the best", not "Row row row your boat", so I can confirm that it's not it.

I just listened to about 7 different covers, including Elton John, but could not find a version with row your boat in the fade out.
I only listened to versions that were on albums, not local cover bands etc.

It was Johnny Warman. With Larry Fast, Tony Levin, Jerry Marotta. And the "Row, row, row your boat" finish only happens on the final song of the album (his third, From the Jungle to the New Horizon) on a song called "Dream, Dream, Dream".

"on a song called "Dream, Dream, Dream"."

So does that mean it wasn't Spirit in the Sky then or did that song just have an excerpt from it?
