So, NOT counting Supper's Ready, what do you consider the single-best Gabriel-era Genesis Track if you were FORCED to pick just one (humor me for the sake of this thread)?

I did a lot of thinking and I keep reaching the conclusion that for myself, it just might be Firth of Fifth.

Discuss!

I guess Firth of Fifth.

Supper's Ready was never a favorite of mine when it comes to classic Genesis. Big smile

I know for some it isn't, but I had to make that rule/disclaimer because it's the go-to for a LOT, lol.

FoF is just perfection.

I don't want to seem like a copycat, but Firth of Fifth is my favorite Genesis song ever, so I'd pick it too.

If everybody go for Firth, this will fastly collapse to sheer boredom.
So, I choose Seven Stones. The entire B-side of "Nursery Cryme" is a perfect LP-side.

This thread is me proving to myself that by proxy, FoF is the best Genesis Gabriel-era song outside of Supper's Ready Wink.

Can-Utility and the Coastliners. English myth concerning King Canute trying to stop the tide and the great interplay between all the bandmembers on that song are quintessential Genesis. There are parts of the song that sound more like Yes than Genesis (and that's a good thing).

Well that's an album not a track, but I have to go for a track from that album - Musical Box.

I hate the word "best" in music comparisons........There are too many IMO to pick from. So this doesn't get too boring.

Single best is a hard call. Can-Utility and the Coastliners is a stand-out for me, with The Fountain of Salmacis close on its heels.

I think I'd have to vote for Dancing With The Moonlit Knight.

Dancing with the Moonlit Knight. I might even like it more than Supper's Ready.
