Talking about eclectic rock bands, Blue Oyster Cult immediately come to my mind. I truly believe that this new album by the band has musically saved the Year of Covid from total oblivion, even if many debate the obvious fact that there won't be any touring by rock bands in the near future.
Just when the likes of Gene Simmons stated "rock is dead", here come our heroes and dish out a ripper album with all brand new studio songs. Alright, don't get yer feathers all flurred up....TSR does not contain anything like legendary songs such as Don't fear the reaper, Godzilla or my fav Deadline, BUT that is the essence of new rock albums.....NEW SONGS, SAME LEGACY. Never forget this. Blue Oyster Cult has NEVER gone wimpy if you exclude a silly soundtrack for a B-sci fi movie on aliens some years ago. Enjoy :)!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fuVBY7dUTko ![]() |

I prefer The Symbol Remains to BOC's first three classic albums. It's a new classic for the 21st century and the Blue Öyster Cult Symbol Remains as strong as ever.

I thought it was good, nothing particularly earth shattering or anything, but it's a fun listen with good production, a sense of inspiration and a feeling of intensity. I think the album ran a little bit too long personally, I think the album could've been better if they condensed the best songs out of it. I was lowkey hoping for something a little more out of left field, but lots of bands release pretty sh*t late career albums so i'll take this. The Alchemist, Box In My Head and That Was Me were my favorite tracks. The best album they've released in years, to be fair.

^ This....a decent lp but not on par with the classics they did many years ago.

I don't think BOC was looking to revisit their past.....I mean you cannot dish out Godzilla and Deadline type songs infinitely, can you ? |
