what kind of music prog fans like to listen too?

I like Jazz( Garbarek, Jean Luc Ponty, Herbie Hancock, Chic Corea, Polish Jazz - Makowicz, stanko, scieranski, smietana, Laboratotium, Kulpowicz; some punk and classic.

Sometimes I turn on my player with Tina Turner, Police,
Rod Stewart, Rolling Stones, David Bowie (BTW what do you think about his works with Brian ENO?), Tom Petty etc-
it unstressed me.

'Intelligent' punk (Stranglers/Siouxsie & the Banshees/PIL/Killing Joke etc..)
Some classical

Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

I knew You you'd wrote "JAZZ" , but all jazz or some kind of it. The same as for classic. I like Vivaldi, Beethoven, Mahler, Tchaykovski, and do not like opera.

It's a bit contradictory but I love:

-60s pop: The Small Faces, The Byrds, The Kinks...

-Soul: Al Green, Otis Redding, James Brown...

-Indie pop: The Lucksmiths, The Go-Betweens, Teenage Fanclub...

-R&B: Ray Charles, Van Morrison, Mose Allison...

-Jazz: Blue Note stuff, Charlie Parker...

-Punk: The Jam, The Clash...

-Blues: Muddy Waters, Jimmy Reed, John Lee Hooker...

-Classical: Baroque especially.

Nirvana and Sublime are my 2 non-prog favorites. I go to a lot of parties, and some of their dance/rave music(?), w/e you call it, is pretty good.

The Beatles, The Police, Dire Straits, Rory Gallagher, Bruce Springsteen, even Elvis occasionally... I do have the entire Led Zep studio catalogue, but have not really felt like listening to it for a long time now. Nick Drake's compilation called "A Treasury" has proven to be a most excellent choice when I feel a need to wind down from intensive prog music listening.

Flamenco music, especially the art of the guitar like Paco de Lucia, Paco Pena and Juan Martin.

Sixties/early Seventies like CCR,The Doors, The Ventures, The Moody Blues, Procol Harum, Spencer Davis Group, Love, The Misunderstood, The Shadows, Dave Edmunds.

Guitar-dominated rock like Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Rory Gallagher, Led Zeppelin, Santana, early Black Sabbath, Stray Cats, Jeff Beck.

Folk music from Rumania (great violin), South-America (the pan flutes), steels drums and Merengue from Central-America and the Caribean, Mexican mariacchi.

Classical guitar like Julian Bream.

Electronic music like Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, Free System Project, Red Shift, Airsculpture, Synergy, JM Jarre, E Froese.

And I would like to explore more classical music because so many great prog has been derived from classical music pieces!
