Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory

... because it is pure imagination. And, if I had never been warned by the oompa loompas with their didactic little ditties, who knows how I may have turned out?

Then, obviously, Dirty Harry and the French Connection

I'm sure I've mentioned it before , but this was the year that Ken Loach's film about Schizophrenia, Family Life, was released. I remember watching this film some time ago when I was very young and it made a massive impact on me. Very disturbing stuff. It apparently forced the British Parliament to rethink the policy of allowing doctors to use ECT treatment on mentally ill patients without consent. The law was changed as a result. Probably one of the most important films ever made but sadly very few people are now aware of it.
