I've gone for La Villa as it's a fantastic guitar based song, but there's more than 1 solo in it.

What's "Ice"?

From the list I choose Eruption ... wonderful.

But there are many many better guitar solo oriented songs:

  • Steve Vai - Rescue Me or Bury Me
  • Scott Henderson - Tore Down House
  • Greg Koch - Red House
  • Eric Johnson - Cliffs of Dover
  • Bumblefoot - Guitars Suck
  • ...

Ice is a Camel number and its Vai not Steve Vai for that song, sorry for the pedancy!

Eruption for me too!

I have to take issue with your attempt to list the best solos here. There are many, many more songs that would need to be added to make this even an approximation of a complete list.

Probably would be better to ask members to just write in their favorite.

And if your going to include Zep, "Since I've Been Loving You" rivals and perhaps betters "Stairway" as Page's best.

Ditto with PF's "Comfortably Numb," -- "Pigs (Three Different Ones)" is a more volatile, explosive experience.

But, hey, that's me!

UNDER A GLASS MOON!!!!

John Petrucci!! No contest but out of the list I had to vote for " La villa Strangiato"   Alex plays some really weird stuff and having tried to play that part it always trips me up!

So many great solos... There are many great guitarists out there but we shouldn't vote by name I think.

For example why vote Under a glass moon. Only becouse it's petrucci playing it? He has many other brtter solos. This one can't beat child in time or la villa...

Too difficult to make a poll on this one really! Theres just too many options. From them Stairway to Heaven is the best rock and comfortably numb is the best prog.

I actually like Shine On more that comfortable numb.

Also a great track id reckomend for all is Ozzy Osbourne - No More Tears

GO DOWNLOAD IT NOW ITS GREAT!!

Well McGarnical Billy is dead! They slit his throat from ear to ear!

From those I know on the above list - Comfortably Numb.

I overplayed both Stairway to Heaven and Child of Time in my youth and they've lost their appeal!!

Lots of great solos in this list... I chose Comfortably Numb, but I might've chosen Stairway to Heaven, Child in Time or Aqualung as well. BTW, I think Martin Barre is really underrated as a guitarist.

VERY original solo...one of the few solos out there that I never get sick of hearing.
