He said they can be dead. I'd go with dead ones although I wouldn't expect they would be much fun at a party. At least they might make for interesting conversation pieces. It wouldn't be the first time I've attended a party with a bunch of stiffs. I'll go with these for my house party of horrors: Bela Lugosi (Bela Lugosi's dead, undead, undead, undead) Christoper Lee Lon Chaney Jr. Max Schreck Boris Karloff If it weren't limited to actors, I'd like to have Einsteins brain, which was removed after his death, with fava beans and a nice Chianti. |

Wow! Awesome list. Those last three, especially. I guess if it's going to be a party, I'd want: Peter O'Toole Richard Harris Richard Burton Sean Penn and Ryan Reynolds (or Bradley Cooper) If it's that other kind of party, then I'd want: Louise Brooks Sean Young Nastassja Kinski (or however she's spelling her name this week) Lena Olin and Blake Lively

The question for me would be, what would I want talk to them about? Just because I admire someone doesn't mean that we'd get along well.
I know it's a party, and one might want them to get along well and just have a good time, and it might be more chit-chat, but for me I'd want to have questions ready. Something I've long wanted to know, this is especially true of the dead ones in, say, a seance slash zombie slash ghost slash mortuary party. I guess I might want actors who really let loose, are fun for a party. I might end up ODing. A lot of actors are not really the most interesting of people, but there are many who are. A bunch of gorgeous actresses would be nice, but how nice would they be to me? Well, probably a little too nice, which might make my wives and concubines jealous. I don't want to ruffle my current lovers feathers, but then there's no cap on how big my harem should be. I was thinking about this a week ago with Stanley Kubrick. Yes, I would have loved to meet him, but he was intimidating, and I don't think I'd be comfortable with him. Maybe we would have played some chess and I doubt he would enjoy the match. To a party? I would absolutely want non high maintenance category, rather than the actors whose performances I have enjoyed most.
Below is obviously based heavily on perceptions (based in turn on what they say in interviews) as well as reports/hearsay about how fans' interactions with these actors went. The very first name would never be there if I just wanted to invite my favourite actors. Keanu Reeves Eddie Murphy Benedict Cumberbatch Steve Carrell Will Ferrell

Yes, you never know. I've only had one party, and it was when I turned 29, and it did NOT turn out as expected :) Meeting Kubrick would be great, but I wouldn't play a game of chess with him. I wouldn't bring up movies unless he did. Maybe I'd talk about some of the movies from his Top 10 list, bring up Vittorio De Sica... Or, maybe I'd talk about politics of the time, and other universal things. I've always enjoyed his interviews. Also, this German guy from another forum told me seeing this show that just came out a few days ago entitled, "Kubrick by Kubrick". I'll be keeping my eye out for it. Hi,
Now this one ... is hard to get to ... but let's see who/what we come up with. AND, it would not be a party, it would be a nice weekend getaway from life for all of them! Julie Christie, although I think she would tone me down because I would ask a lot of questions relating to the early days in London, when she was one of the women that was running around the "Canterbury" early folks, and ended up even having a relationship with Brian Eno ... who wrote "Julie With" for her. Her words show up in the "Tonite We All Love in London", but since she has never said anything about her early days, and I doubt that we will have a bio that is clear and concise, probably having to do with a lot of things that might not have been considered "cool" today, like dope, sex and what not ... which continued for a few more years in America with someone else. She was, and is, a very "progressive" actress in her own right, and her ability to study and get into a role is special. Oliver Reed, mostly because of the quantity and quality of his roles in a lot of films, specially the ones with Ken Russell, where it appears that he was given a free hand, and I think that Oliver had a better sense of "character" than Ken did for any picture. And of course, we can not leave out his escapades with Keith Moon, and others, and their drinking contests, and how many women were in the hotel during that orgy, of course! On one night, there is a rumor that there were 27 women in the party for both of them! Ian Richardson, one of the great actors in English Theater, who is not given enough credit for his incredible set of roles, and the one role (that got one American guy to try and copy the style and material) where he was so important in its appearance, complete with English "asides" and other bits that made the show totally impossible to let go. Can't even get a video/dvd of it these days, because the BBC are a bunch of cowards and jerks, and these days, the mail between the two countries for materials is a joke ... they are being held up like the airports in Uruguay and Argentina, so the cops can rip you off some more for tariffs that don't exist. Ian's great role, might have been that of Jean Paul Marat in the play MARAT/SADE ... but today all music is about top ten, and hearing all the political this and that in that play will send the majority of prog fans to their crib to suck their thumb ... they would not even try to comprehend what was said! Peter Cook, one of the really difficult folks to interview, since his educational background (along with Dudley Moore) is so high and educated that you could easily get blown up and buried in the floor very quickly, but if he was game, there would be a lot of things to get discussed, including how prophetic some material in BEDAZZLED has turned out to be ... Jean Luc Godard, and have a discussion about a lot of things, specially how he came to make so much fun of all the satirical camera movements, all the satirical music inclusions in his films, and all the far out and weird stuff ... like some milk in a cup of coffee giving you a metaphysical comment right out of the blue in a place where the relationship was going awry ... on top of it ... the total irony! Peter Brook, the most inventive and experimental director in film and theater in the 20th century and his exercises and work with actors is still going ... his books are wonderful reading for anyone interested in improving their craft. Some wonderful stuff and stories, going back to one about his first production of King Lear, that ended up later as a film. And his adventures since then ... and while he is a philosopher for most actors, he is capable of bringing it down to help the actor/actress do better on the stage and film! There are many more, and the November 22nd folks would always be valuable and important, however, they are also known to be flighty, crazy and sometimes ... impossible to deal with ... but an evening with Terry Gilliam would probably turn out boring since he has told everything in so many books, and asking Robert Vaughn about this and that would be boring for him, and he would give you that face, and then turn right so you get a profile, and asking Scarlett about some of her roles, she would probably say that they are all interested in seeing her nude, and she has come to think that some of the folks did not have honorable ideas or thoughts during it. I'm steering off that, so I am not looked at as a dirty old man ... but it would be interesting to see/hear a woman talk about that side of her, and her issues with that when it comes to daily life, which are more visible than she (or others) let on! A couple of porn related actresses would also be interesting ... and these names will be kept secret. At least a couple of them are very interesting people that have done quite well for themselves, because they are "real" instead of just fake!

Hmmm
Hard to know which people/actors to be mutch at ease in a room together and a nobody likemyself but i would go afterctheir level of geek/nerd factor so Nicolas Cage seem to be a levelheaded guy, from an interesting family, here som juice storries from the Coppola houshold, hes a comic book fan, he likes to spend money. Henry Cavill he is a fantasy nerd, reads Wheel of Time, paints Warhammer figurines in Carenteen, hes Superman, would work well with Nic whom named hes son Kal-El. Emilia Clarkseems to be a good spirited girl with humor and pretty an nerdy. Petter Stormare I could need some breaks from speaking English, so i could talk some Swedish/norwegian inbetween. Maisy Williams seems to be cool, quirky and funny to be around. |

Hi,
There are a couple of other folks I would love to sit with, that James Lipton did not have a chance to get to ... they would be ELIA KAZAN and LEE STRASBURG ... between these 2 folks America got almost two complete generations of actors and actresses and that is an insane and incredible achievement ... I am not sure they thought of it that way, but the inventiveness of the work, and how they included playwrights to help write new things for the actors, made for something that TODAY ... is impossible and no one will even try it!

Thanks. I was born in 1981, so Kiefer seems better for me to hang out with, haha. But I think Donald Sutherland is a better actor. He has a domineering charisma. Yet I like Kiefer for his idiosyncratic physical appearence a lot. Also The Lost Boys has been the movie that I watched most in my life. He also played a very interesting character in Dark City. I liked his country music career, too. Edited by Shadowyzard - April 17 2020 at 15:17 |
