Hi,

There used to be a list of 50 playable songs in progarchives which I discovered many new bands from.
I can find it anymore does it still exist? if so where do I find it?

I think all the playable tracks were removed years ago for copyright reasons.

I miss it sometimes, but we have to deal with it. George9 stated six months ago that the mp3 player will not return.

Likely because PA would have to pay for the rights to play it.

It's not that bad, but the 2 main "rights" that you have to have are too expensive to be considered these days ... and are in  fact, one of the biggest problems to anyone trying to create a "real" radio station, as opposed to anything else ... but the internet has done something else ... in the many internet shows, if you are doing the show, and OWN a physical copy of the music (in CD, album or purchased mp3 -- keep the receipts for the mp3's so you don't get nicked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), you are allowed to play it.

That is all I really know about it ... PA is not exactly a "person" or a "radio-station" ... and since the whole PA thing is free and voluntary for the folks doing work for it and on it (AFAIK) ... there is no money to pay for the rights.

One last thing ... the FCC and the Rights folks have not had a lot of success taking down things that had no money in them ... but I think that PA now doing commercials, changes the whole thing ... someone has to pay for those computers and a couple of database administrators to keep things working, I bet!
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!
