Yep, pretty straightforward. Although the Martins + Mikael tend to
improvise a little more. ex) A Fair Judgement, and if you watch the
Lamentations video. \
LINDGREN IS A STIFF, but his playing is sooo fluid and precise, he is water.

A lot of talk and interaction with the audience between songs. Every
song introduced. Songs sounding probably better than on the albums.
Really enjoyable gig.

I went into Real Groovy (one of the best music providers in New Zealand) just an hour ago- this morning, and saw Opeth's latest album at one of the listening posts so I decided to give them a try. to be honest they washed right over me- same repetitive heavy metal which is so over-done it just doesnt strike me as anything special. However I won't be TOO too cynical about them- I'll give them a *proper* try some other time. I remember how boring Nightwish sounded to me the first time I heard them- now I adore them

I'm going to The Palladium on Oct. 30th. I'm pretty stoked, it's my first Opeth show.

Also be prepared to answer questions regarding 80's metal (last time I
saw them, Mikael performed the first measure of Beyond the Realms of
Death by Judas Priest and asked if anyone knew that song). This refers
back to the talk and interaction with the audience in between songs.
ALSO for the love of all that is Swedish and awesome, request "The
Funeral Portrait". I am hoping to hear them play that little ditty
live; it would be the greatest thing since they opened with "The Moor".

You can expect decent loud music, played well but all of it to be utterly spoiled by a dude that sounds like he has a small bird stuck in his throat...

It's gonna be awesome!! Tight playing, great vocals!! When I saw Opeth in the past..most people weren't moshing or anything...everyone was more into actually listening to the music. Nevertheless, you'll have a great time.

Long pauses between songs, if the DVD is anything to go by. Maybe they can afford guitar roadies by now and you won't have to wait for them to set new tunings.
