three bands with strong female vocals sometimes male vocals, sophisticated music with a strong pop sensability. favoured but alsp perhaps overlooked in terms of the sophistocated elements that can be found.

It's hard for me to pick a favourite because I love all three artists. I could vote for ABBA, but I might be choosing them for the wrong reasons. Wink

Carpenters.
Tusk is a classic though, but not enough to best the C's run of great albums through Horizon.

Actually, I like the MUSIC of ABBA more than Carpenters, but I still voted based off my preference as far as the singers go.  Karen Carpenter was one of a kind.

Fleetwood Mac without hesitation. Of course, I prefer the Peter Green/Jeremy Spencer version of the band, but even with Nicks and McVie their music was far more varied and instrumentally adept than the saccharine banalities presented by either of the others.

I agree. I love all of the Carpenters albums and I have most of them on CD.

Fleetwood Mac in a landslide (all eras thru the 1980s) though I like Abba a lot and like a few songs by Carpenters

Fleetwood Mac, but, though it looks like a JfF-poll at first sight, this is actually a pretty good poll. Thumbs Up

Oh, I have my hang-up on each of these every once in a while. But counting only the Nicks/Buckingham-years Fleetwood Mac comes in third (still love that period as well). Carpenter or ABBA? I don't know lately I've been most into the former band but I've loved ABBA all my life...

Anyway, this wonderful 1971-tune should have an appeal to proggers I think.

^ that's a nice song.

I can't stand the Birmingham/Nicks Fleetwood Mac anymore, last time i tried listening, I cringed. Plus all the drama in the band is cringy as well.  And Nicks is overrated...

Karen Carpenter was an incredible singer, and they penned some classics, but overall their music is a little too 'easy listening' for me.

ABBA are great pop, and I probably have ABBA to thank for growing up with a love of music generally.

My vote should probably go to FM. Rumours, Mirage and TITN are consistently great albums, and Stevie Nicks is among my favourite female singers.
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!
