Hi, I'm Paul. I joined ProgArchives today, having been a long-time visitor here since late 2010. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all.

Welcome.....all good choices....you have there...I would immediately recommend King Crimson...Court Of and Red...and also ELP , the first one and Brain Salad Surgery......after that the sky is the limit...I'm sure many here will tell you to get some Van Der Graaf and Gentle Giant.

It's funny you should mention King Crimson, because that's the one album I forgot to include in my list, which I've now edited in, and you're absolutely right, "In The Court Of The Crimson King" is a great album Smile

I'm a Strawbs fan too. although I hadn't thought of them as being Prog-Rock.
I also like Hatfield & the North and National Health, but their albums are hard to get hold of.
 
In reply to Dr Wu 23, I'm not a big fan of ELP, Gentle Giant or Van Der Graaf Generator, but thanks for the recommendation anyway.

it's an interesting divide between UK and North American fans.  UK fans tend to see them more often as folk rock because of their origins and their biggest selling UK albums, while American fans see them as prog rock mostly because of Hero and heroine and Ghosts, their biggest selling North American albums .  But even those albums revealed a lot of folk roots.

@kenethlevine:- I agree with you. I think "Hero & Heroine" was the Strawbs most Prog-orientated album, unlike their earlier albums which sounded more like  traditional Folk-Rock.
 
"Hero & Heroine" is my favourite Strawbs album out of the seven Strawbs CD albums in my collection.
