Tortoise : Millions now living will never die (1996)

TORTOISE's  influences go from 'Neu', 'Cluster','Brian Eno' to Ennio Morricone. MNLWND is an all instrumental album. The first track 'Djed' clocks in about 22 minutes and reminds  'Neu', a simple basic rhthm with altering layers of noise and ambient textures. The other shorter tracks are alternating ambient textures, basic rock rhythms, athmospheric guitar work and Morricone-like melodies.I don't know their other records, but this is Prog close to the before mentionned groups.

"Hey there! Rotter's Club!
Explain the meaning of this song and share it"

I've got the first three albums - TNT is my favourite so far, though all are good. Not really heard much that they've done since TNT - does anybody know if their later stuff is any good?

Its still good but TNT was the peak "Standards" and (i havent heard this one but its generally accepted by fans and reviewers alike) "Its All Around You" are definetly in decline, theyve not the same drive and have lost a lot of the interesting edge they had. But still worthwhile if you really dig them.

While I like TNT, Tortoise hasn't done anything that even comes close to "Djed" from Millions Now Living IMHO. That track is just amazing.
