I downloaded the new Coheed and Cambria, and ive been pretty obessed with it for the past week or so..I think people on here might actually enjoy it (open minded people, not prog-snobs). If anyone else agrees with me, back me up. I think them and the Mars Volta are starting to breath life into a now somewhat cold genre. |

Their new album is amazing, miles ahead of In Keeping Serects, which i only thought was okay. The melodies are really more varied on Good Apollo. More catchy while mainting that experimental element.
oh and the whole cold thing...what i mean is, band who are more focused on technicality that emotion. Most of the bands ive heard of late (especially a lot of the stuff on inside out) is just really insincere...my favorite band is Pain of Salvation, and i have yet to been blown away by any prog band since discovering them a few years ago. (with the exception of Mars Volta on De-Loused) |

The new Co&Ca is great. If IKSSE:3 was art-rock, this is jumping into the deep end.

I would definitely consider the newest C&C to be progressive. It's quite different from their previous efforts.

Had Good Apollo...for a lil while now, haven't really gotten around to giving it a proper listen, but from the first three songs...I don't think they were aware of what would be a good opening track...we have a kind of classical piece, an acoustic bit, and then a Kashmir-esque rocker...I don't know, haven't gotten further yet, but what I heard I thought was decent. Robert Fripp has always said that seeing a band live is perhaps the best outlet of seeing what a band is truly about...and in terms of C&C, based on a DVD I have...they love 6/8 and power-punk-rocking it up (for lack of a better term). I'm not a huge fan...but I have to respect what they're doing; or, trying to do. And in regards to InsideOut music's artists being "insincere" I have to agree for the most part Cerebrum, but have you checked out (aside from POS) CHROMA KEY, King's X, FLOWER KINGS/TANGENT/Kaipa, OSI, TREY GUNN, PLANET X, PAATOS, CGT, or ENCHANT? Those bands/people in caps I think aren't no slouches and certainly aren't decreasing progressive music's credibility...there is nothing new, no ineffable ground to be broken anymore really...just good song-writing really to look forward to...in my book least. |

Ooops..started new thread without seeing this one first!
Anyway, just wanted to say, I've had this downloaded for 2 weeks now and it just keeps getting better..cannot stop playing it or humming random tracks when I'm not. This CD just has a great balance to it intro...3 power/melodic rockers..short lull..tunes/great ballad/tunes..then a 4 * 7min track suite full of complexity, melody and passion - wonderful! Going to be buying my copy today (release date) HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO EVERYONE!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Well, they're not exactly a prog band, but definitely good art
rock. The new album is good, far better that either of the
previous 2. I cant really explain to anyone why i like this band,
though. Pretty much everyone I know hates the band, either
because of the vocals or because they only know them as an "emo"
band.
A good album, recommended to Rush fans and general art rock fans. not totally prog, but more progressive than Supertramp, anyway. |

Haha.
Download this track (The Willing Well: I. Fuel for the Feeding End) if you haven't heard them yet. It's my favourite track on the new album. But yeah, great album. I dig it. Edited by Syrinx |

Coheed and Cambria prog??? Don't get me started
![]() A month ago I tried to get them in the archives, and to this day it hasn't yet worked ![]() After listening to the new CD about a hundred gazillion times now (OMGGGG it is sooo goood!!!!), to classify them as "prog" is not a stretch in the slightest sense, as any of their eariler emo tendencies are all but gone (with the possible exception of The Suffering, the poppy single which I still love). Good Apollo is my favorite CD of theirs and probably in my top 15 of all time as it stands right now. ITs definately good enough to get them on the archives. |
