I'm curious in why prog archives has attempted to weed out this, especially since trying to point out stuff requested is hard on many an aging eye that uses this web site

I think he's just asking why we have captcha and that it sucks especially for those over a certain age (?) .

I still get Captcha quite often, especially on my android phone and iPad when visiting the site (haven't experienced it on my laptop for quite some time), but it's rarely a major nuisance for me any longer.

It can be hard to make out the images when using my phone when my yes are a bit sore and dry (I'm in the first stages of needing reading glasses -- not using them regularly yet, but they can help, mostly need them or a magnifying glass for fine print).

Seriously though, I find that when I use an emoticon, I get captch'ed every time but when I don't use one, I almost never have a problem. This is on a PC, not a mobile device.

I get hit with them when I visit the site more than when I try to log-in or post. It's not just a forum issue and one can be affected without logging-in at all. So it can be a nuisance even if you are not posting or visiting the forum section of the site.
