So many great drummers played with Frank. Who did you like most?

It hurt, but I chose Terry Bozzio over Chester Thompson; two of my favourite drummers. Aynsley Dunbar would probably take third place.

Aynsley Dunsbar hands down. He has always been one of my favourite drummers. I actually went out of my way to hunt down albums he played on after listening to Lou Reed's Berlin. Must've been 14.
What he brought to Zappa was of course technical prowess just like the other guys here, but he also added a 'rumble' and certain feel that really connects with me. Just for kicks, check out this sneaky little intro he does - cueing the other musicians with a tap on the rim in between a tricky little spyflick rhythm: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=EeXNt4VaVEw Edited by Guldbamsen - July 06 2018 at 14:33 |

Tough, tough call. Showed Chester a little love...

He neither drank, smoked, nor rode a bicycle. Living frugally, saving his money, he died early, surrounded by greedy relatives. It was a great lesson to me -- John Barrymore

Very hard choice between Thompson and Bozzio, I wish I could vote for both. After a lot of thinking, I'll go with Chester Thompson, but just by a hair.

Vinnie for me. He just grabs my attention no matter what he’s playing.

Colaiuta. Bozzio second. Bozzio is really great but I love Joe's Garage a whole bunch. Wackerman and the rest are obviously great too.

I agree , I would go Colaiuta first, then Bozzio, but it's close.
