OK then following another thread about prog concerts you've been to, what's the most embarrasing act (non-prog of course) that you've seen live?

Mine might just win hands down.... but before I tell you I just want to explain that we were offered the tickets for free as someone we knew couldn't go, and it was my future wife who thought well, if they're free I wouldn't mind, but yes I did agree to get taken along to see..wait for it...Neil Diamond at Wembley Arena. It was exactly as I expected; he perfomed well and the blue rinse ladies absolutely loved him.

Actually two other non-prog bands I will mention....I agreed to go see the Eagles again under duress but actually were brilliant on stage; and I got tickets to see one of my all time favourite (non-prog) bands, Steely Dan, but found them a dissapointment live.

I've also seen U2, Led Zep, Simple Minds, Todd Rundgren, and numerous others. My biggest dissapointment was never getting to see Frank Zappa live.

So any non-prog concert experiences you wish to share?

U2 (this year) ... Joe Satriani two years ago, De-Phazz three years ago. In the 90's I've seen Van Halen, Aerosmith, Metallica, Alice Cooper, The Scorpions, Barbara Dennerlein, Jazz Ost West and Danzig.

Most of my concerts were from when I'd never even heard of prog, so I don't really like most of these anymore:

Switchfoot (this was pretty fun actually, I managed to work my way to the front row)
O.C. Supertones
Earthsuit
Everyday Sunday
Beach Boys

Last year I worked for the organization responsible for bringing concerts to my university (we are in rural Virginia, so not much comes around here).  So, in the past 2 years I've managed to see some [interesting] concerts.

Hoobastank / LostProphets   (this one was actually pretty cool.  I dont like either band, but the crowd was intense)

Something Corporate   (crappy emo band, but damn, you should have seen the groupies...)

Reel Big Fish    (silly ska-punk, fun, but not interesting)

the one outstanding concert was Bela Fleck and the Flecktones.  amazing, amazing, amazing live band.

there was talk of trying to get the Mars Volta for this year, but they got too expensive.

Apart from that, I have been to 5 ozzfests since '98.  it used to be good bands mixed with crappy rapcore bands, now its a few good bands mixed with emo-hardcore bands.

Well, it'd be a long list. The best one was Leonard Cohen in 1995: just brilliant!
