Does anyone else share the love of barbershop quartets with me?

the best harmonies in the world. 

 

Im actually dead serious about this too
I can strangle a canary in a tin can and it would be really original, but that wouldn't save it from sounding like utter sh*t.

Well, there was the King Crimson barbershop quartet (available on the reissued Three of a Perfect Pair) and Peter Gabriel's Excuse Me also has a barbershop intro - and both Fripp and Levin were involved with both songs - so I think we may have a hitherto undiscovered sub genre of prog here.

Any more prog/barbershop crossovers spring to mind?

If the idea of a barbershop quartet backed by heavy distorted guitars & thunderous drums & bass sounds cool to you, check out King's X Dogman. One of the best groups of harmonizers in rock music, the harmonies on this album in particular sound very "barber shop"-ish.

5uu's did a nice barbershop song called "The Shears" (off Hunger's Teeth, 1994).
