Again with my annoyance of acronyms.....
What does AOR stand for? I've heard some people on this forum use this term.

AOR stands for either "album oriented rock" or "adult oriented rock";
the abbreviation is used for both (which often leads to confusion,
because one has nothing to do with the other)

Nothing to do with the other? Doesn't it come historically from bands who developed the Beatles' idea of crafting an album to be listened to as a whole, rather than just a collection of catchy singles aimed at a teenage market?

Journey started out as a prog band and a good one at that. You should listen to their first album. It's excellent.
