Hello dear Prog fans! I am here once again with a question...
In september i have a wedding upcoming and we are looking for a song for the start, i don't know how to say it but the time when the bride and groom come out together. it has to has some mojo. it was the Russian Dance by Tom waits at the engagement party. Do you have any recs? i know that progarchives are a bit strange to ask but we both love prog :D Thanks for everything.

Have you tried "If" by Pink Floyd? That has a slow bit for an instrumental.

For mojo, Can's "Halleluhwah" ( short version ). And it makes a good into for the kind of groovy, orgiastic style wedding that I like. Or are you going more traditional?

I don't fully understand the term MOJO (sorry, not a native english speaker)... but as far as lyrics go, my number one choice would be "And you and I" from Yes... but I'm guessing you want something more upbeat and danceable. I myself don't really like dancing... actually, I just woudln't know were to start nor how to do it, but latley I got an album from a band called Corvus Corax, and if I were to go out and enjoy dancing, it would be to that music. Medieval pagan folk music with bag pipes (not prog at all, though), really upbeat and danceable... I think... for weirdos. However, just check them out, they are great.

Plenty of Ant Phillips' music is purely beautiful.
Lindsay, the piano-piece from Back to the Pavillion Von Runkel's Yorker Music Terminal, the last track on Arti's Giro di Valzer Per Domani. Intense emotion, stunningly beautiful conclusion to the album. As someone mentioned CAN, you can play Vitamin C when you're on the dance floor. Anything from Ragnarok's debut. The whole Hatfield & the North debut album, very breezy, melancholy album (obviously). Oh!! Perfect!! Looking through my iTunes.. Wedding Song from Jukka Tolonen's Summer Games!! If that's not a perfect match.. |

Traccia 2 by Banco is the perfect wedding intro music imo. Also, spectral mornings by Steve Hackett.

Having listened to Tom Waits "Russian Dance" (here) which as you say was played at the engagement party and bearing mind that your friends may be partial to heavier prog (I am judging only from your user name), nevertheless I would like to nominate the following instrumental piece: Sky - Troika (a transcription of music by Sergei Prokofiev, performed by the Anglo-Australian group Sky). FIRST EDIT: having listened to Tom Waits "Russian Dance" again, it seems to me there might be a fair bit of classically influenced Italian prog that could be considered... Or for something a bit different (non-prog), music from the soundtrack of the film Chocolat, the later part of the main theme (when it picks up some speed) or the minor swing? SECOND EDIT: Or this ever-popular instrumental from VDGG? or the later version from Cozy Powell (no lack of mojo there) Edited by David64T - July 30 2017 at 08:22 |

Hello guys thanks for all the answers, as for mojo i can say we are not looking for something romantic but something catchy and powerful for entrance, just like Sensational Alex Harvey Band - Anthem, slowly starts then power!

"To Be Over," by Yes.
Oh, wait, you said wedding, not funeral! Damn! Moody Blues' "For My Lady" would be my choice.
