Hello everyone
This is my first post, so go easy on me ![]() I was wondering if anyone has tried out a band called Karma Pilot. I bought one of their demo CDs from Ebay on a bit of a whim (£3 I think), after they described themselves as being Floyd influenced. Whilst not strictly Floydy, you can hear some DG influence in the guitar playing, and the songs and production are pretty good for a "hobby" band. If you've heard Porcupine Tree (another Floyd-influenced band, or at least they used to be), you'll probbaly dig their stuff. Check em out here - www.mrsvee.com - it would be interesting to find out if I'm the only one who rates them at all ![]() Anyway, enough of the plug for my favourite band-of-the-week ![]() Later people Lucas Edited by TerminalFrost |

Welcome to the forum. You could try Pendragon, who have been accused here recently of ripping off "Shine On You Crazy Diamond". Also, there are a few moments on IQ's Dark Matter that remind me of Floyd too. |

I think ELOY, ARCHIVE, RPWL are quite "floydish" bands...

Porcupine Tree is great. They take a lot of influence from the beatles writing style, and put it into floyds spacey sound. then on some songs they have a heavier side. But all in all its great music

I can strangle a canary in a tin can and it would be really original, but that wouldn't save it from sounding like utter sh*t.

Perhaps Think Floyd is influenced by Pink Floyd. http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_BAN D.asp?band_id=650 |

Pineapple Thief is a very good band, and what I've heard from them
(Variations of a Dream album) is similar to Floyd. They have a Free MP3
available at the archives.

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson
