Topic: IQ Blu-Ray DVD announced Posted: August 15 2016 at 15:12 |
Received via GEP email newsletter this evening:
"GEP are really excited to announce the first ever Blu-ray release for IQ. Filmed in December 2014 at The Boerderij in Holland, the concert was part of the 'Road Of Bones' tour and features all the tracks from the first CD, along with 'Ten Million Demons' as the encore and a host of other IQ live favourites. Mike and Rob have been in the studio recently working on the audio mix, and Mike will be busy on the video edit for the next month or so. All things being well we're looking at a release date of 20th January 2016, although there may well be 'pre-release' copies available at this year's Christmas gigs." Nothing on the official IQ website about this release as yet, but looking back on various facebook pages, the audio mixing was done at Aubitt Studios on 24th and 25th July as far as I can make out. And that was the setlist from the gig, which hopefully we can all enjoy in stunning audio and video quality in January next year! - The whole of disc one of 'The Road Of Bones' album, plus the track 'Ten Million Demons' from disc two...and some rather tasty oldies too!

Yes indeed guys, and just to whet our appetites, here are the lads having a bit of fun with one of the encore numbers from said setlist - at their traditional Christmas bash at the O2 Academy, Islington - a fortnight or so after the above De Boerderij gig:
Of course, the eventual DVD version of this song will be in slightly better quality than this...Hopefully!

Final audio mix for this release was started at Aubitt Studios on Monday: https://www.facebook.com/michael.holmes.7399786/posts/1149382605119961.
The main part of the video edit was completed last Wednesday- just the encores to go now. There will probably not be a standard DVD version of this concert - the current plan is for Blu-ray only. Still on track for an official January release, with hopefully a few copies available at the December gigs.

Here's a montage of a few lo-res screenshots from the above facebook post: Don't ask me what Mollie Sugden is doing in there!!! Apparently there are more than 3 hours of extras! |

Superb DVD. I love the track selection particularly with a couple from Ever. Also has anyone noticed just how good Paul Cook has become? That break he had seems to have done him the world of good!
