Hi PA,
My band, Carpadium, just released a new album. We're technically under "heavy prog," but bring a good amount of math/post rock, avant-prog, and metal to the table when creating our compositions. It's available for free streaming/download here: https://carpadium.bandcamp.com/album/what-you-need Those of you familiar with our past work might notice stylistic and formal connections to both Belief In Question and Fake Jokes; however, it's definitely a different beast, featuring an overall tone that's distinct from those two records. We're really interested in what you make of it! Below, if you're interested, is the press release that we sent out before the record's release: CARPADIUM ANNOUNCES THIRD ALBUM, WHAT YOU NEED Jacksonville/Gainesville-based instrumental rock band CARPADIUM have recently completed work on their third full-length album, What You Need (out on 2/26/16 through the group’s Bandcamp). Recorded by guitarist Ryan Bell and mixed/mastered by Alex Hobson, the record combines the aggressive immediacy ofFake Jokes with the expansive ambition of their debut. Drawing from math-rock, post-metal, avant-rock, and more, What You Need is familiar yet uncategorizable. Tracklist: 1. / 2. Lars Needs a Vacation 3. Bear Doin' Cat Moves 4. // 5. Years Collapse and Grow Hollow 6. /// 7. Wool Station 8. //// 9. Initially taking influence from chaotic prog-rock, metal, and experimental music, the group drew attention to themselves in the Gainesville, Florida music scene through their frequently eccentric live performances. Recorded while the band was still in high school, their debut album, the prog-leaning Belief in Question, was released in 2012. Their next album, 2014’s Fake Jokes, signalled a change in direction; now fully instrumental, the band embraced math rock and noise in a series of energetic and compact pieces. They have shared the stage with The Fall of Troy, And So I Watch You From Afar, Animals as Leaders, Chon, Child Bite, Frameworks, and more. Drummer Andrew Mankin is also in the Gainesville-based progressive metal group Velocirapture.
