David Bowie is not usually considered "prog" but in the 70's he made
two albums with the help of Brian Eno and on the latter Robert Fripp,
that were for him, radical...do you think "Low" or "Heroes" qualify as
being "prog"?

Heroes is great but I don't really see Bowie as prog.

This a prime example of the old art-rock or progressive question.......
Same goes for Roxy, Queen, 10cc, Be Bop Deluxe.
How about The Original Soundtrack, Futurama and For Your Pleasure?
And the discussion continues........
ps. I would classify Low and Heroes as prog, but some won't.

He certainly does have a unique sound, whether he's prog or not. I think he's great.

Bowie was too glam rock to be prog, I don't think he should be added just on his work with Fripp and Eno alone
Ziggy Stardust kicked ass though

So true. Iloved almost all his stuff. Although China girl and Lets Dance wanted to make me sick . He is still an incredable talent. But not Prog.

PASADENA CONTROL: It's looking good. It's going good. We're getting great pictures here at Nasa Control, Pasadena. The landing-craft touched down on Mars 28 Kilometers from the aim-point. We're looking at a remarkable landscape, littered with different kinds of rocks - red, purple.... How 'bout that, Bermuda?
BERMUDA CONTROL: Fantastic! Look at the dune-field.
PASADENA CONTROL: Hey, wait. I'm getting a no-go signal. Now I'm losing one of the craft. Hey, Bermuda, you getting it?
BERMUDA CONTROL: No, I lost contact. There's a lot of dust blowing up there.
PASADENA CONTROL: Now I've lost the second craft. We got problems.
BERMUDA CONTROL: All contact lost, Pasadena. Maybe the antenna's...
PASADENA CONTROL: What's that flare? See it? A green flare, coming from Mars, kind of a green mist behind it. It's getting closer. You see it, Bermuda? Come in, Bermuda! Houston, come in! What's going on?
Tracking station 43, Canberra, come in Canberra! Tracking station 63, can you hear me, Madrid? Can anybody hear me? Come in, come in...
Ground control to Major Tom, your circuit's dead, there's something wrong Can you hear me Major Tom, Can you hear me Major Tom, Can you hear me Major Tom Can you hear...

As far as I'm concerned, most of the rock artists of the early seventies did
something proggy at one point or another...but I ain't arguing for any of
'em being here.
Nice War of the Worlds reference there, by the way. Have you got the 7-
CD set?

I could see him qualify under the definition of art rock.
