Topic: Celebrity "Prog" Deathmatch Posted: August 19 2005 at 02:35 |
You may have seen the MTV produced programme, Celebtrity Deathmatch. It is a humourous wrestling game where celebrities fight it out in the ring; ultimately ending in the death of one celebrity. Fortunately, it is only animation!
Well, how about a Celebrity Prog Deathmatch. Which 2 "celebrities" in prog would you like to see beat the hell out of each other and who would win?
(all in the name of fun and jest of course!)...
To start it off, how about:
Neil Peart vs Mike Portnoy
Neil Peart would win hands down; his superior drum rolls would be too much for Portnoy to handle!

Yes,Fripp's my favourite in there...
Collins goes down on the first punch...
Emerson third, with a splendid uppercut by Waters...
And then the final clash...

Mmmm.... I was thinking of something like Wetton vs. Lake. Obviously Greg would win hands down in the vocal stakes.

i always have images in my head of greg lake
singing a tender love ballad whilst playing his
12-string acoustic guitar and keith emerson behind
him, trying to slay him with his hammond organ...
or, for that matter, emo playing his piano concerto,
being hoisted up in the air by means of a crane (cal
jam 74 so i'm told) and being spun around its axis
WITH the piano – becoming sick, throwing up and
puking all over greg & carl
or how about wakeman vs. kaye? kaye would win
easily ... he has a hand free to trade blows
actually they've become good mates since the union
tour –
poor twisted me...

It would have to be Buggles versus John Anderson!
And Anderson would whip his ass!

Edgar Froese vs. Christopher Franke
The two,as I've heard, are not in good terms, since Franke left Tangerine Dream...

All '70's classic prog artists vs. '80's-'90's pretentious neo prog and prog metal snobs...
guess who would win
|
Listen to Turkish psych/prog; you won't regret: Baris Manco,Erkin Koray,Cem Karaca,Mogollar,3 Hürel,Selda,Edip Akbayram,Fikret Kizilok,Ersen (and Dadaslar) (but stick with the '70's, and 'early 80's!)

It would all come down to the two improvising on their modular moog synthesizers for 11 hours until Franke would pass out from exhaustion and Froese would win.
