This is NOT a prog Poll, but I didn't knew, where to put it elsewhere. (What about a Non-Pro- Music-Poll)

So, here is my list of  americain songwriting-recording artists (Sorry, no Cole Porter, no Elvis)! My favourite : Randy Newman, David Crosby, Joni Mitchell, Laura Nyro

Another tough one - I've gone for Bruce coz he wrote Born To Run. Lou Reed and Stephen Stills would have been close.

Isn't Neil Young Canadian?

That might upset a few Canadians. Snow Dog might get upset if I decided Manic Street Preachers were English.

Yes but "American" could refer to someone from the continent of America, and if one said that MSP are British, then theres no problem with that, look you, boyo!

Yes Snow Dog!

You're right. Alucard, if you want to make a poll for best U.S. singer, dont right best north american singer because that include canada, usa and mexico.

For my part, my best north american singers are Neil Young and Jim Morrisson.

Neil Young (my Canadian past life spoke), since you chose the wrong Buckley!!!!

How could you choose the son over the father! Not that the son was bad , either, but:

Tim rather than Jeff!!!!!

You might also have mentioned Tom Rapp (Pearls Before Swine)

content to be a doer

Lots of Songwriters missing, I love Jeff  Buckley! There was a lot of hipe when he died but he was a truly gifted musician/songwriter and ...I don't know his father's records. If I remember well Tim Buckley's  first record was produced by Zappa, but I never heard it.

I'm personally partial to Warren Zevon, but from the list I'll go with Mr. Young.
And I am not frightened of dying, any time will do, I
don't mind. Why should I be frightened of dying?
There's no reason for it, you've gotta go sometime.
I never said I was frightened of dying.

Simon and Cohen are great too! Maybe the amount of writings done made me to choose Bob...
