Another decent list, mainly powered by the amazing year that is 2003 for music.

Voted Deloused in the Comatorium. Masterpiece entirely.
Crushed like a rose in the riverflow.

Birds and Buildings (fuelled by the talented Dan Britton) deserves a shout.

Choirs of the Eye, though De-Loused runs it close.

That Steve Wilson guy.

2003 was an incredible year in my opinion but none of my favs are there, still i'll be the first to vote NO-MAN. The atmosphere on that one is as thick as London fog.

The Mars Volta for one of the most influential albums of the past 20 years. My personal choice for 2013 would be Guapo's History of the Visitation, but out of this list I'd go for Birds and Buildings.

Guapo was my top album of 2013 as well

1. Guapo - History Of The Visitation
2. Mirthkon - Snack(s)
3. Miriodor - Cobra Fakir
4. Blue Cranes - Swim
5. Unit Wail - Retort

2003
1. Thinking Plague - A History Of Madness
2. King Crimson - The Power To Believe
3. Alamaailman Vasarat - Kaarmelautakunta
4. Muse - Absolution
5. Birdsong Of The Mesazoic - The Iridium Controversy

Good call with Birdsong of the Mesozoic! That album is great. It's a pity that, when they played at ProgDay 2012, we were so drained by the unrelenting heat and humidity (which were much worse than the past couple of years) that we left early and did not appreciate them as fully as we should have.

I saw them recently in Boston as the support act for The Cellar & Point who were promoting their debut album. Small venue with table seating, excellent night of music.

1 Riverside (Only marginally less brilliant than SLS!)
2 Steven Wilson
3 Haken
4 No Man

The rest nowhere.
