Topic: CTTE - Live Vs. Studio Posted: August 15 2005 at 22:18 |
Fairly simple. Do you prefer the tracks from CTTE studio, or live. The only live versions I know, are the Yessongs version. But I generally prefer the studio.

Yessongs was my first introduction to yes back in the 70s. When I
finally got a copy of CTTE studio I didn't like it. Quality wise it was
far superior, but the live versions were heavier- even with the poor
production of yessongs. I can't forgive Howe for moving away from
distortion and into a more chet atkins sound, as he has done in later
live versions

Live versions of CCTE from Keys are fantastic, but studio is better.

It has to be the studio versions of CTTE and AYAI. The live versions never match the power of the CTTE intro or organ bit after "I Get Up, I Get Down" or the AYAI middle instrumental section.
Having said that, there are good versions of AYAI on the Yesspeak DVD and the Yesyears box set.
I've never been a great fan of SK. The version on Remixes is quite good!
