'VISHNU FEST 2005 A BIG SUCCESS!!!

John McLaughlin was there.  Jan Hammer was there.  Rick Laird was there.

The Mahavishnu Project played 25 Mahavishnu tunes over the course of three nights to celebrate the seminal music of John McLaughlin & The Mahavishnu Orchestra.

The Mahavishnu Project wish to thank ALL OF YOU that attended and helped make 'Vishnu Fest such a memorable event.  We were truly honored by the presence of three of the five original Mahavishnu Orchestra members who came with their families, thoroughly enjoyed the music, and spoke to all in attendance.

We have posted two big pages of pictures from the event for all of you to enjoy.  You can check them out here:

Thank you for helping us to keep this music alive!

Heart warming news indeed! I'd be very interested to hear about McLaughlin performing the old tunes that were (back then) inspired under his spiritual devotion. For many years now his approach represented a softer side - mainly on accoustic guitars and whilst some albums are truly sensational, it's hard to imagine him revisiting his former approach.

Fast, burning solos, time changes, incredible compositions and inspiration from more than 30 years ago. Is this still possible today? An Elder Statesman in music, if anyone can, then McLaughlin is one of the few.
