Sad news indeed.

With the loss of Pip Pyle, that means this brings them down to one member left.

Oh man, that's sad news. Crashing Icons is one of my all-time favourite albums. Jardines was an incredible composer and musician. RIP.

And Kerman did very little to make people aware this exists so no wonder you had trouble inding it even on his site lol!
OK. Didn't Kerman like it or what was the reason?  I think it is really nice. :)

I got in some weird trouble after buying it with my Visa card though, Someone at the local Visa department seemingly was a little paranoid about seeing a payment from ReR USA, and blocked my card :) The card stopped working later the same night, when I went out for a couple of beers. I got nervous and thought someone had been using my credit card number, and called Visa in the middle of the night, just to find out they blocked my card for a 2.90 billing from the states :) The would have called me, but they didn't have my number.. Oh, well, it was worth it :) I mailed an explanation to this to ReR, if they had any trouble receiving the money... My card is unblocked again, and ReR hasn't complained...

Now I think I have the whole 5UU's discography. And on CD too, no Illegal stuff :)

That reminds me of another time. Before the times of Internet shopping becoming mainstream, I bought a couple of discs straight from Wayside Music in USA, including 5UU's 'Point of Views' album (or was it 'Crisis in Clay'?). Had to go  to the customs, and had the  mail packet opened and examined by the customs department.   I had to show the site where I bought the discs, the price, etc.. Finally they decided, that I didn't have to pay toll for the disc at all :)

I'd like to have some opinions on an unexpected package that has arrived in my mailbox.

See, I am currently in France but heading back to Canada in 1 week. I had ordered from ReR USA the K-Space - Bear Bones album to be shipped to my Canada address. That album was part of ReR USA's 9,00$ sale. Yesterday my mom informed me that she had instead received five (!) 9$ albums, but the K-Space album was not one of them, so I supposed that after realizing that they were out of stock but had already charged my credit card, they decided to send five other albums to make up for the mistake. I'm already familiar with two of the albums that are waiting for me (Aksak Maboul and Area), but really I have no idea what to expect from these 3 other albums:

Fred Frith: Eye to Ear

I'm familiar with Frith from his Henry Cow involvement but his solo work I never heard. Fortrangt Hushallbarbete is Swedish and Ne Zhdali is from East Europe, and neither I had heard about before.

I could wait until next week and find out but I usually prefer to get some insight and context about music before listening to it! Smile Am I in for a treat or must I bear in mind that there's indeed a good reason why these albums are being sold off at a reduced price?...

I just wanted to mention that I added a note about the passing of Enrique Jardines on the Absolute Zero page.  If someone feels like editing it further, please feel free to do so, as I've tagged it on the end as I didn't write the original biography.

I also wanted to mention that Steve Davis, the English snooker player and Magma fan is currently using Art Zoyd's Anaphase II from the album "Nosferatu" for his walk-on music. Big smile

That may have the same effect as 'Ride of the Valkyries' in Apocalypse Now :)

I still need to get it.  Cry  When I had money it was out of stock, now that I don't have money it's been consistently in stock.

How does it compare to the original, 'cause I have it on CD (think it's a Japanese pressing)?

From the interview with Eskaton here on PA: "Recently, together with French label Soleil Zeuhl (Alain Lebon) we worked on digitally remastered version re-issue. Udi Koomran, the sound engineer did a very great job. We are very pleased with the sound of this new CD. For us, it is definitively an evident improvement compared with previous CD. At the request of Alain Lebon, we added four unreleased bonus tracks which we hope will enjoy our fans."

The band seems to enjoy the new version more than the older CD version.

The remaster is just amazing! I am a rater at Gnosis, and the original was a 14 [out of 15] for me before, but this pushed it over the top to a 15 for me. I can't tell you enough what an amazing job you've done Udi: Thank you very, very much!!! And thanks to the band and Alain for helping bring this masterpiece forth with a freshness that is simply sublime!

James: I promise you, the remaster is worth utterly worth it - it's like a great new experience of a long-time love. Truly, it is exceptional!

And make sure no one's home the 1st time you listen to it if you get it: this needs to be played loud!! It's so immersive and intense, I doubt you could keep your hand off the volume knob anyway - I sure couldn't!

I live on my own but I don't have a stereo.

So it'll be headphones for me.

I may have to purchase this... there's still a few CDs I need from Wayside anyhow.

So nice to hear this
Yes this is one of the best archive projects I was fortunate to work on.
The fact we used the master tapes ensured I had the best possible material to work with.
Working with Andre Bernardi was a pleasure  - we  hit it off extremely well
Now if we only could do the same for Frank Fromy's  Quatre Axes Mutants mmm....

I think I've heard that Franck William Fromy album.

Udi, Shub-Niggurath's Testament has no track titles, is this correct?

To be honest I have not heard that one
For me the band sans Fromy has less appeal

I like all the albums I've heard.  I like the fact they went away from the chamber-prog sound.

I love Les morts vont vite though.  It's one of my favourite albums of all time.
