I'm doing great, Gabe!

We got 2 feet of snow last Wednesday here in Philly, and are due for 6 more inches on Monday. Times like these are when I really want to move to FloridaLOL

How about you?

Wow, that sounds pretty cool.

Out of pure curiosity, are you a fan of Mr. Bungle? I've been getting into them lately.

Oh, you noticed the similarities? Tongue
Mr. Bungle is good. But definitely not among my favourite avant-gardiste bands.
You should try Naked City, too.

I need to listen to more of The Mars Volta.  It's surprising I haven't listened to them more, considering that the King Crimson and Van Der Graaf Generator influences are obvious.

They are?
Josh, you're naming two of the best progressive bands ever and comparing them to The Mars Volta. Damn... Disapprove

I like Naked City, but I have only heard the first one. I need some Masada.

I keep thinking about trying out Naked City, but there's a bunch of stuff further up on my list (such as every single album Dan Swanö has ever been in. If you know anything about him, that's a LOT of CD's)Big smile

Not really, at least not compared to the neighbours. The French economy doesn't grow since decades ago because everybody here has leftish views and they throw a strike at anything they feel threatened by. All the neighbouring countries are cheaper (in December we went to Bruges, in Belgium, where the average price of a CD was almost 5 euros lower) and have better incomes (my girlfriend is a doctor and she would be paid more than twice as better in the UK, it's just that it's a lot more difficult to get inside the medical system in the UK).

They definitely have a KC influenced sound sometimes. I don't know about VdGG though. Maybe if KC played hard rock with latin jazz influences it would sound like TMV.

He didn't compare them, just pointed out some of their sources.

Anyway, Mars Volta is the best and greatest modern mainstream prog band.

EDIT: I mean, even if a lot of their music sucks, a lot of their music is also the best of out times.
