I didn't like Aqualung too much.  Also, you are wrong about KC. Just sayin'.

KC are one of those bands who I haven't liked anything that I've heard by them so far, and I really don't want to spend more money on albums by them because I doubt I'll suddenly like them. I admit I'm considering buying the Lizard remaster, but literally only because Jon Anderson does the vocals.

I'd tend to agree with that. I only really love TAAB and/or Minstrel In The Gallery

He doesn't sing for very long at all.

I didn't know until now that Zs had a new album, but I might eMusic it. The Hard EP was a bit weak, but the new one sounds much better.

I have "Arms', it's probably one of my least favorite albums in my collection, just bored me to tears.

Yeah, Arms and The Hard EP weren't very good. But that one song from Music in Modern White actually sounded good because they stopped playing everything freaking stoccato.
If you buy this song to listen to it, you are an idiot.

And America is a much better place to live for music than Europe.

That's interesting. Henry, can you expand on it more?
Well it depends what you like. ;-) Of course, at this point it's unlikely I'll ever see Evan Parker, Peter Brotzmann, or John Butcher live (especially the first two), but in my personal experience, most of the music that's worth listening to from Europe makes it over here at a reasonable price because of the US' size, while I can't imagine that's the case for all of Europe. For example, poor James must pay an arm and a leg to order from Wayside because labels like Cuneiform and Tzadik are based in the US and don't really have the budget to expand. Or for a more concrete example: Satoko Fujii's album Jo (which is from Japan, I know!) is listed as an import on both Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk, but they're listed at $17 and 20 pounds.

I've also noticed that the prices for music in the US are lower the the medium prices in Europe. Since France is more expensive than the European medium, you win at this one. I hate seeing new CDs at 20-25 euros and normal CDs at 15-20 euro.

The good side about Paris, near which I live, is that it's like some sort of live music capital of Europe. Even if last.fm shows a double amount of concerts for London, the concerts shown for Paris are always a lot more interesting. I can't figure the exact reason for this. The venues in Paris are small, there isn't much attendance, and as the costs are high, I assume that the profits are not that great. Maybe it's a prestige thing? Since we moved to France ten months ago, we never had enough time and money to go to all the concert's we would have liked to. We've seen Magma (twice), Univers Zero, Gong, One Shot, Porcupine Tree, Mars Volta, Depeche Mode, AIR, Tortoise, Ulver, and I have tickets for Jaga Jazzist. These are all pretty mainstream but there are also the RIO Festival (where we didn't go because I don't think my girlfriend was ready for that yet), the jazz festivals (more mainstream ones like Jazz sur Seine but also the avantgarde stuff from Cite De La Musique which like a continuous festival; right now they have Metal Machine Music).

Also, there's Bruxelles (one hour by train), London (two hours by train), Amsterdam (three hours by train), Louxembourg (a lot of concerts there, surprisingly), etc.

It's nice out in the country, and I'm close to Lake Michigan, not to mention the millions and millions of smaller lakes.

I was joking. I've never been there and don't know where it is. I can't have an opinion on this place. Tongue

Wow, 20 euros for one CD? Are you at least making decent money in euros? Because I could not afford to spend $27 on one CD...

You do have a good point about concerts, though. I don't know from experience, but I'm sure Europe is better because of the much higher population density. On the east coast, anything big that's going to be worth going to is going to happen in DC or NYC, and while DC isn't too far away from me, it's quite a hike for somebody in North Carolina. But as an American, I much prefer holding cold, lifeless things. ;-)
