there is a scientific way of determining this, Chris...
when you throw them at the wall, and they stick... |

Oh come on Steve, why the shock?? You're a prog fan of a certain age, you know how this goes, especially when it comes to music festivals... pants & socks worn to extinction, then turned inside out for another week or 2 (this also works to hide any holes which appear), then the trowing at the wall test to see if there's any adhesions, then the final stage is to give them a good beating with a large stick every evening...
...when they start to hit you back, then it's time to wash them - ie, give them to your wife/girlfriend/mother (all three if you hail from Norfolk) to wash.

ahem! I'm a "Norfolk Broad" !!!! Thankyou very much! ok, I've had a trerrible morning, and am looking to the Shedders for sympathy as I'm home alone! I went to the post as usual, I had to go 5 miles east to get fuel, return home, pick up the post, then 5 miles west to the PO, lovely sunny day so I was enjoying the pootle on the scooter. I stopped off at a place (and I'm holding Fandango responsible for this bit ) where I know they sell Tyrells Beetroot Crisps, then continued my lovely sunny ride home. Turning right into a T junction I was clipped on the wing by "White Van Man" I lost balance, and toppled to my left, Bertie (the Scooter) managed to stay (albeit on his side) on the road, I ended up in a DITCH, a smelly, dark, dank, deep ditch! I hauled my self out, righted Bertie and got myself home....... Stripped in the drive, thew my clothes in the washer, and showered to within an inch of my life, I STILL smell of ditch. But I've got a bag of Beetroot Crisps for lunch! Had I not been buying the darned things I wouldn't be smelling like ditch water though But the good news is....................... it's raining in Rome today, so at least I have sun on my side! P-C x

Ouch! Having had a couple of altercations with vehicles larger than myself when I was two-wheeled, I can sympathise. Coming off after a muck-spreader had dumped its cargo on the road was definitely the worse .
Anyway, at least you (and Bertie) are physically unharmed.
- I wonder if the Google satelite was passing over your drive at the time...

Typical!
At least in Norfolk people would have stopped to give you a hand! (webbed maybe but still a hand! )
Small world! I was born in West Runton a few miles south of Brancaster as you will already probably know.
I now live in a village called Bradwell 5 miles West of Great Yarmouth. Still miles from anywhere decent particlularly with the roads as they are here, as again you will know!
Do your family still live there? Do you go home much these days?

In Norfolk they would have done the job properly and I'd still glugging in the bottom of a ditch!

I don't get home as much as I should. It's a long and expensive drive, I tend to see my Mum when she stays at my sister's place in Surrey, or I get up there maybe 3 times a year to see her. We do speak almost every day though. I keep in touch with some friends, but really my friends have scattered to the 4 corners of the globe, one friend I get together with at gigs, as she's a right prog-head! I loved the place, the people did my head in a bit though! Nice pub in West Runton, can't remember it's name though!

Oh, I think we can safely nominate The Forest Of Dean, where the definition of a virgin is someone who can run faster than their brother...

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

That will be the Village Inn!
The pub that was once next door to West Runton Pavilion, lots of great bands played there before they demolished it!
You may gone there yourself depending on when you left Norfolk.

There are a number of villages lying east of the Norfolk coast, and in a few more years there'll be even more

You're not wrong there Dean.
That might be a picture of Happisburgh cliffs, the erosion there is quite alarming.
A bungalow at Happisburgh, which at teatime on Saturday stood 15 feet from the cliff, was hanging over the cliff edge on Sunday morning. By 8.00 p.m. the surge reached Sea Palling and burst through the sand dunes, carrying away four houses, a cafe, a general store and a bakery
That would be funny if it wasn't quite serious!
