From the samples, it's the best. It will grow on you.

All this talk about In the Land of Grey and Pink makes me want to listen to the album right now.  So I am.

I really can't wait to hear your opinion on Caravan, although I already know that you'll love it.

VdGG essential songs:

Refugees
Killer
House with No Door
Man Erg
Undercover Man
The Sleepwalkers
Still Life
Childlike Faith at Childhood's End
Wondering

All that might just fit onto one album too! It would be the only 5 star VdGG album

And if I'm feeling generous: A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers and Every Bloody Emperor would make the cut as bonus songs)

Good list, but "Scorched Earth" > "Undercover Man."  This may sound like blasphemy, but I personally never saw what others saw in that song (although the rendition on Godbluff Live was pretty good.)

I really enjoyed the title track from ITLOGAP, listening to Winter Wine now. I'm not liking it as much, but its still really good stuff.

I get more of a Philip Glass vibe from it all.  Not sure, though.

Nice list.

It also magically has wonderful album flow.

Anyway, VdGG get almost as wonky bad as ELP when they try really hard to be prog. I guess Childlike Faith is the main exception, which is why I can't take half of H to He. It's ok if I'm in a 70s mood, but I'd never say that stuff is essential.
