If you are honestly interested in learning, I wouldn't find it hard to believe. I like to know as much as I can about all sides (in anything). Scary to deal with opposing beliefs but I like to keep an open mind. Knowledge is good!
I'm very intersted. I'm always interested in knowing more. It would (will) help me understand you even more. Here conversation is chaotic and there's too much "my comment will leave you in the dust" stuff from both sides so I want a clear one-side vision of all these principles. I can only grow more from that.
I'm on my phon and it sucks for long posts. Quickly: most political books I've read have been about south american and global politics. Not too much about America. Actually, I read one satire book by a conservative humourist (not really a satir, I just don't want to delete now what I write since it's so difficult) whose main subject was the islamizarion of Europe, and how only America still had a replacement birth rate high enough to uphold western values. I also read Al Gore's Book (but I never finished it (was not good really). I've read lots of books on history of the left in a global scale, and on the extremes, I've read Das Kapital, Communist Manifesto, The role of work in the trabsition from ape to man, 5 revolutionary thesis by Mao, the origin of state, family and private property by Engels and Mein Kampf. (all these are the EXTREMES remember). I lack more in-depth analysis of American current politics specially the libertarian side.

I have never read a book that sent me into this mindset. I have read three Ayn Rand books, but when I read her two longest ones, I was opposed to her ideas (but that was mainly because I failed to understand them).
My political ideas have come from reading the news, paying attention to politics, and having conversations with people from various walks of life. By paying attention to politics, I mean both keeping up with current politics and reading essays and history articles...I hope that makes sense.
Undoubtedly, Pat, Logan, and Anton will be able to help you out more than I can for literature. Don't read Ayn Rand though. Brilliant mind, but a wooden writer.
Actually, I can't be too much help on this subject because I honestly hate reading books. I'll read articles all day, scout around different news sites, watch video after video about policy, etc but books bored the hell out of me. I think it's the presentation, so dead and lifeless. I could happily spend all day listening to a book on tape but the books I'd like to read are f'n expensive.
One little political book thats about the simplist read out there (as far as political books go) is "The Terrible Truth About Liberals." by libertarian talk show host Neal Boortz. You can get this one knocked out in an afternoon.

i havent been on this website for a long time and im vvery happy to see how their is a large libertarian/freedom group here it really does brighten my spirit. it is obvious that this country(usa) is in the process of becoming more totalitarian ever since 9/11, and we must not let usa lose what it was born to be.. a land of freedom.

Another question, this one fresh from the news...
The GOP is trying to repeal the 14 amendment to the Constitution which grants people born here even from illegal immigrants citizenship. What do you think? Een Lou Dobbs of all people have said it is too much. I wonder what will you say. Pat Shields always mentions the Supreme Text. Do you think this is going against its spirit? Do you think a change is necessary? Do you think the GOP is just riding the wave of immigration chaos in order to gain favor? Opinions?

This could be interesting, Pat did imply maybe some more elaboration was needed (are the children of illegal parents still under the jurisdiction of the US government?) Dont want to misquote him. But personally.....

If they are trying to gain favor, it's a fools errand. Caucasians are well on their way to becoming a minority in this country, so the party that takes the harshest stands against immigrants, legal or illegal, may wind up regretting doing so.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

No, he's implying that those opposed to the 14th ammendment are doing what they think is best for their political careers in accordance with racial stereotypes and it may backfire on them.
