Ah, the delightful and subtle smell of irony. If intended or not I don't know, but for me this was a comic relief much needed in a non-debate taken to extremes ;-) |

Throttle a lawyer. It's more satisfying.

You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

Hi Robert, had it ready since yesterday's night, but was so tired that went o bed, today I came home late and saw this thread so I was afraid to post it, but there is no reason to be afraid if you post what you believe.
Not a masterpiece neither a bad album, but with better production better things will come, remember I rated ELP¨'s debut with the same three stars.

Lawyers have an uncanny knack for creating a need for their services.

Wouldn't it be cool if we could fill the whole PA top 40 artists with PA members Lots of people on here have CDs out, let's do it.

My son bangs on these toy drums in the bathtub, it's actually quite RIO....just need to set up some recording gear in there. |

As I mentioned to you, that was some fresh criticism. Also, a bit of perspective I guess, as to how we look at debuts...last night I considered Yes, Genesis, Jethro Tull, Dream Theater, and many others, and was overwhelmed to think, "Well, these great bands have pretty poorly-rated debuts." I mean good Lord, Phideaux's first album has a 1.64, and the sophomore album is only rated twice as high or so. Even The Great Leap is only a 3.34. Now his album this year hovers about the top five. So you never know with anybody! But as I said...I don't make music for Prog Archives, now do I? |

Robert, as I've hinted at, I don't think you're going to get the type of criticism here that is going to be useful on albums number 2 and 3. There are some great sites that cater exactly to where you are. After I recorded my (actually a duo's) third album, I took it to many many sites. Some of them were useless and others taught me immense amounts about songwriting, recording, and where internet promotion is right now. The Muse's Muse is one. There is a huge range of talent there, from kids who are just cutting teeth to last years winner of the Great American songwriting competition. My songs get so many more positive comments now, though they may not be as personal. All of us have different things to learn, you have skills I still struggle with and there are some things I've picked up that might help you. But being on one of those sites where everyone is supporting each other to be better musicians really does help. That is NOT what this site is for. And I frankly do not feel I can give an appropriate review here....it would be too nitpicky about specifics, back into my fellow musician mode and not in my giving information to a random consumer mode.
Just a thought.

Why does everyone assume this is my only source for criticism? It isn't even a primary one... |

This doesn't depend on us, we need the albums of 40 PA members to be worth 5 stars.

But DamoXt, we've already done that!!! Didn't you hear our 313 album and Ghost Story? Actually, maybe Ghost Story was glam... I'm going to put Psych on my "to do" list. Let me see... We covered Jazz fusion on the new one as well as some small chamber violin bits. We also nicked Stereolab with some vocal stuff... Still to do: Math rock, Sequenced Midi Pomp, Avant/RIO, and World influenced. But, rest assured that's all in the works. Our computer algorithm has been guiding our every move from album to album -- from the song titles right down to the artwork! |

The PA top 40 isn't based on ratings, it's based on visits to that person's page. Edited by Easy Money - August 15 2009 at 23:57 |
