Believe it or not, I fell asleep while listening to Sepultura's 'Arise' and other more extreme metal stuff.

that's a very good album. Check out also Joey De Francesco' 'goodfellas' if you like organ in jazz.

I've fallen asleep to Cephalic Carnage a few times Embarrassed LOL

It's the heaviest avant-garde extreme grindcore I've EVER heard! Lucid Interval is a pretty good album by them, but I don't even remotely consider myself a fan.

I think you might very well like them since you really appreciate Frank Zappa. I don't remember if you liked Gentle Giant or not, if you do then the better.

Henry Cow's Leg End(Legend) is like the instrumentation of Zappa's jazzy era with the quirkiness and complexity of both, Zappa and Gentle Giant.

I meant that if you're in the need of sleeping, up-lifting or heavy ones are not the most suitable, in my opinion of course.

About falling asleep, well that's another case, while I do not listen to extreme metal, I have fallen asleep with Deep Purple, Sabbath and the like at a very high volume, but you must expect that I was incredibly tired.Wink

I kind of like Gentle Giant. Not really a fan though.

Right now I'm starting one of the all-time greatest heavy metal concept albums:

The last (real) Savatage album to feature the mighty Jon Oliva on vocals.

Another grindcore band, Mumakil, is pretty thrilling :

But the masters of avant-garde "something"core are Daughters :

Indeed it's a fantastic album! Do you recommend me any of his other strictly jazz albums?
