You've outlived Grigori Nelyubov by more than a month. He was an a skilled pilot and Soviet cosmonaut who was expelled for drunkenness. He died of suicide by stepping in front of a train on February 18, 1966, 12 years before you were born.

Hmm... just checked the Zeuhl genre and noticed a few things.

1. There isn't a Magma album in the top three.
2. Dün's Eros is top and Happy Family's Tossco is second
3. How the hell is M.D.K. so damned low?  Come on... no way is Kobaia better than M.D.K.!

Wurdah Itah counts as a Magma album, I would think.

Yes it does but it does not justify how M.D.K. is so low and how two non-Magma albums are supposedly higher rated than albums by the band that invented the genre in the first place. LOL

Easily.

M.D.K. is Magma's best album.

^Hmm, not sure, I haven't heard it so I can't say... Wink

I only heard M.D.K and Attahk. Some songs on M.D.K are just AWESOME, in the likes of Zappa's AWESOMENESS, but I'm sure you would disagree or at least wouldn't know, since I heard you're not a big fan of him.

While Attahk, no really stunning track, the album as a whole works excellent, though obviously more accesible.

I tend to think of Dun's Eros as more Zeuhl-related (do love that album), and Happy Family's Toscco is not that amazing to my ears (prefer the debut).  I'm not that keen on the MDK studio album anymore.  I much prefer it live/ off Retrospektiw (at one time MDK was my favourite album).  As for Kobaia, I think it's a fabulous album.  I've been playing that so much again recently.

I haven't sifted through the reviews, but I think MDK was chosen as a starting point by a lot of people trying to get into Magma - many of them probably hated it or at least didn't like it, and voted accordingly - then never acquired or reviewed another Magma album again.  Whereas albums like Wurdah Itah and Kohntarkosz are probably only listened to by (mostly) confirmed Magma-heads, who naturally rate them very high.

I should stop posting and just let Greg do the talking for me.  LOL

Have to try that Happy Family debut then.  Toscco was good but I wasn't blown away, needs more listens though.

I tend to listen to MDK as a single piece, and not differentiate it by tracks.

Attahk is mediocre IMO, sorry to be brutal about it.  Just not an album that I ever yearn to listen to.

Agree on both parts. Attahk is mediocre for Magma, 100% agree.

MDK is a album that should be listened from start to finish, agree.
