Doctor, I see you're busy, but I have an important question.
Today I listened to some music which I usually don't listen to.

Yes, doctor, it has seduced me too...

Oh God FiP this is serious. Are you suddenly viewing Roger Dean album covers in a different light? Do you suddenly value technical ability over emotion in music? Have you turned to vegetarianism lately? Have you suddenly found an interest in some obscure Asiatic religious sect?
Please let me know if you have any of these symptoms before I can offer further analysis.
PS please see my previous reply to one ProgKidJoel, who is only saved through his love of Progressive Metal

Dr. Dingo,
Thank you for your reply.
I will discuss all the possible symptoms seperately:
Are you suddenly viewing Roger Dean album covers in a different light?
I am indeed viewing them in a different light.
I never used to like them, but I now realize how great they match the music.
Do you suddenly value technical ability over emotion in music?
I have always respected the abilities of the musicians of Yes, even when I hated the music.
Have you turned to vegetarianism lately?
No, definitely not! I love my wombat steak too much to turn into vegetarianism!
Have you suddenly found an interest in some obscure Asiatic religious sect?
I'm not that much into Yes yet, but who knows if this symptom might appear later?
I hope this will help you in your analysis, doctor.
|
Thank you FiP indeed this does help. You're in what us doctors call a state of susceptibility, which i went through in the 1970s. It means you are not afflicted by a fully-fledged disease, but the bug is in your system and you are struggling to escape it.
My symptoms were dreadful. I bought The Yes Album, Fragile and Close to the Edge. But I fought the disease and over the years played them less and less.
I still get these horrific flashbacks whereby I play them occasionally. I have been known to play CTTE twice in the same day.
BUT YOU WILL GROW OUT OF IT. YOU WILL GET BETTER.
Or end up like Joel |
I really hope this will cure in a short while, cause I really don't want to end up like Joel!
Thank you for the information, Dr. Dingo! |
Dr. Dingo!!!
I'm feeling even more sick than I did yesterday! I'm even on the point of wanting to go out to get either Close To The Edge or Relayer... or both! Dr. Dingo, I'm desperate for some help!!
HELP ME!!!!

^ I'm no doctor, but I assume that if you don't get them, they will keep haunting you in your dreams and you will never be cured. In fact you should get every album they recorded in the 70's and listen to them until you know them by heart (with the exception of Time and a Word, which you're allowed to ignore after a couple of listens). That's the only way you have a chance to fight your horrible disease.

OKAY FiP Dr Dingo always deals with the most serious cases first so listen up.
There are two forms of this disease, Anderson Worshippus and the milder form known as Overblownus Technica.
You clearly have Overblownus Technica, because your purchase selection is actually IMMO (in my medical opinion) two of the best releases.
Buy the better of the two (CTTE) but play it only in emergencies, ie when withdrawal symptoms are so bad you start to cultivate brown rice and chant meaningless mantras. But play it sparingly (once every nine months or so is quite enough )
On NO ACCOUNT buy both as the constant exposure to high-pitched vocals and weirdo lyrics will bring you out in giant purple boils.

My dear CP, just send $750 to the surgery and we'll send Katya round to help you fall asleep with your usual dreams of puppies, flowers and tea parties. However, if you wish her to stay awake with you for an hour or so instead, please send $2,750. All major CCs accepted except Amex & Diners

Thank you Dr. dingo, I will look for CTTE tomorrow. Your comment obviously is much more sincere than Vompatti's comment, as he's just a fearmonger.

Dear Vompatti,
I suspect you are suffering from premature senility due to your confusion. Do you think this thread is entitled "Ban the person above you"? Do you forget to pay at the Wal*Mart checkout?* Do you bump into insignificant roadside objects? Do you turn up for appointments at the right time on the wrong day?
I thought so. Although in your early twenties, you are in fact senile. This is not unusual in wombats, and is usually accompanied by loss of appetite and falling fur. I fear for your future
*Being in the company of Winona is no excuse
Yours in Medicine
DD
Edit: And I just accused you of senility

That is an unfair accusation. Is it my fault my female staff are so attractive? And so cash-generating? My medical rivals do not refer to me as El Pimpo for nothing.

Katya is not some meaningless chattel to be exchanged for books or records. Cash or nothing.

I suspect not until you sacrifice some onions to her.

Actually Vompatti, Birdwithteeth11 is quite accurate in his treatment programme. You have coveted other women, recklessly gambled money away, scandalised your auntie and even admitted to a liking for The Deviation That Bears No Name. That's quite a lot for Winona to forgive. Then there's the persistent halitosis.
I reckon a 20-kilo sack of onions should suffice. Just make sure you sacrifice each one individually while whispering: "You die for Winona" as you cut through its light brown epidermis (or whatever shallot-like things have).
It'll take a long time, but ultimately will prove frutiful. Unless she doesn't forgive you after all of course.

Sounds fair enough, but how am I supposed to make up for the onions I have to kill?

Basically it means the portion of your ridiculously high prices that you don't (or at least shouldn't) expect any sane person to pay.
