Costa Rica - Uruguay seems a mine field, they almost kill each other... to many bad faults... well... I go for Central American team, but Uruguay will always be a giant in football so... it's good...
Change the program inside... Stay in silence is a crime.

As noboby else has, Iīll formally apologise for Englandīs pathetic showing against Brazil. Still. it was only a friendlyEmbarrassed
It's not that I can't find worth in anything, it's just that I can't find worth in enough.

No apology for their performance required (but for being English, well...Big smile)

It was a 2nd string they put out against a full strength Brazil (or as near as dammit)

It would be dangerous to read too much into the performance as all it indicates is that England probably lack the squad depth of their closest rivals.

No, I ain't Australian (but I live there) I'm Scottish and have just watched video (low)lights of my team's pathetic capitulation to the plankton savagery of Wales (whose FIFA ranking is probably lower than that of the Mbuti People of Zaire) by 3 - nil. ConfusedOur manager George Burley has just been sacked (but it's not his fault, we simply don't produce players with the requisite technical ability to compete on the world stage)

How are you gonna survive the WC ?  Surrounded by Aussies and no doubt quite a few English.    I always thought Burley was a good manager (Did well at Ipswich).  I don't think they should have sacked him - I think it was an emotional decision based on losing to the Taffs!

Yes, as is the SFA's wont, a habitual knee-jerk reaction to either media or Tartan Army pressure. Considering they kept him on after our failure to qualify for South Africa, why dismiss him after just 2 meaningless friendly defeats ? (One of which, against Japan, was played with a second XI)

We now can look forward to the unedifying spectacle of the repugnant striking striker Kris Boyd being reinstated, (swearing undying allegiance to the cause) and the two drunken idiots Ferguson and McGregor being unbanned for life...The bottom of the barrel for Scotland at this moment would represent the ceiling.

Henry's handball was not ambiguous, it was a clear deliberate use of the hand (twice in fact) to control a ball that was going out of play. (and he has subsequently admitted as much)That neither the ref or his linesman saw it beggars belief. From the limited highlights I have seen, Ireland created all the better chances and had at least two 'one on ones' with the keeper to make it 2 - 0 in normal time. A real shame for the Republic, but based on this evidence France will be lucky to get out of whatever qualifying group they are drawn in at the finals.
They have more video technology inside the stadiums than people these days, so why don't they use some of it to help the ref make contentious decisions in games where the stakes are so high ?

Yup, that was completely ridiculous. We're not in the Middle Ages anymore, when is FIFA going to take its head out of its arse and enter the 21st century? Seeing as how it's becoming quite obvious the referees can't (or won't) see even something as obvious and blatant as this, why not make use of the technology that enables every viewer to decipher the situation in seconds? I'm not saying we need to use those cameras in every local low league match, but (as you pointed out) when the stakes are as high as they were yesterday, it should be top priority that the match is not decided by bad judging - and that means using every means necessary.

A brief note OFF TOPIC:

Today, 19/11, exactly 40 years ago, a certain player known as Pelé scored his 1000th in the Maracanã Stadium, Rio de Janeiro... amid the 70,000 people watching it in the audience was a little boy with his father. Well, that boy grew, his father left but the marvels of that particular day will never be forgotten - I was there!!!
