Also, I never heard of les claypool working in CowBe. The whole soundtrack have been written and performed by The Seatbelts. Am I wrong?

I don't think he did any on Cowboy Bebop, but apparently he has contributed to other anime, though I don't know any of them by name.

You've done a lot of watching for sure. Apparently I've been on MAL longer than you have, but your list is mammoth compared to mine. My internet is going a little slow right now (yay college campus), but I'll get your friend request when it loads. Smile

The soundtrack for Cowboy Bebop is definitely one of its best features.

I was discussing with a classmate once, and she said that Les Claypool collaborated with the producer of Cowboy Bebop on several other anime and provided music for them. I've researched it a little bit, but couldn't find anything to back it up. Anyone else know anything about this?

Yes the soundtrack is one of the best parts, Space Lion is my favorite :]

And Votoms he mentioned other animes i believe.

I just watched Spirited Away last night. Now I know why it gets all the acclaim that it does. Wonderful story.

The Les Claypool that works in the anime industry is not Les Claypool from Primus, they are two different people with the same name.

The Cowboy Bebop music was written and produced by Yoko Kanno. The Seatbelts are the band that performed and arranged the music. Most of the Seatbelt's members are veteran session musicians and/or members of the Tokyo jazz and progressive music scenes. I've seen many of them perform live at various shows over here.

The Seatbelts have performed some Cowboy Bebop tunes live but it's very rare.

If you like the Cowboy Bebop music then I strongly recommend:

Wolf's Rain soundtracks.
Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex soundtracks.
Macross Frontier soundtracks.

All are produced by Yoko Kanno and various members of the Seatbelts perform on all of them.

Wolf's Rain and GiTS SAC ost are awesome.
Macross Frontier is the only from Macross series lacking in my list.

I'm not a big fan of the old school guro stuff. But I did see an anime that you might like, it's called SHIGURUI: DEATH FRENZY. It's really good but some scenes are extremely violent and bloody. The director made some other famous shows such as TEXHNOLYZE and STEIN'S GATE.

Texhnolyze was fairly brutal at times.

Miyazaki's a genius, well worth watching all of his and the other Studio Ghibli films, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind being my personal favourite.

I would also recommend The Cat Returns, which is a non-Miyazaki Ghibli film, but it's one of my favorites.

Anyone ever watch Planetes?  Seems a little different from the usual space/sci-fi anime.

TCR didn't impress me as much as other Ghibli films to be honest, though it's certainly not bad.

As for Planets, thats next on my To Watch list once I've finished with all Legend of the Galactic Heroes releases.

I've always felt the English voice acting/translation/scripting has been a bit weak on most Ghibli films compared to The Cat Returns, which was the first one I saw (that may have something to do with my appreciation of it). In terms of storytelling, too, it was a lot more satisfying to me than most Ghibli films

Ive watched.texnolyze and shigirui. Both awesome and very "atmospheric". I can put them together with boogie pop phantom and lain. About ghibli, My top3 are laputa, nausicaa and kikis delivery service. You should check mirai shonen conan, miyazaki pre-ghibli tv series.
