Any Prog-Metal - what exactly is the point of this? Why on earth would you bother with prog dumbed down for angst-ridden teenagers?woah, woah,woah now...This is not dumbed down in anyway! There is 10x more technicallity and use of oddmeters and such in prog metal as there is in prog rock. This compositions are usually more complex and it is in no way suited for angst ridden teenagers.
and finally the (IMO) laughably awful ELP - they make me crack up every time, just so self-important and self-regarding. Add in some rubbish vocals, tub-thumping drums and end of pier, glittery suit organ showing-off and you have a band that just makes me cringe every time I hear them.yea, maybe you're right about this one, but they are quite talented
There are so many I struggle with I'm surprised I like prog at all 
However, Rush 74-84, Genesis up to Abacab, Yes up to Drama, Kansas up to Audio Visions, PFM, Gentle Giant, Tangerine Dream, The Flower Kings, Vangelis, Glass Hammer etc etc make it all better...

Sorry, you didn't know that I've tried to get into The Clash for a long time, due to the fact that a friend of mine lend me his CDs, after boring me for ages about the beauty of their music (OK It's my fault I didn't say that  ). Simply, LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE ON THIS FORUM,'m trying to express my opinion and feelings. If I wrote THE CLASH it's because of a personal experience with their music, and don't worry, it's not a GENERAL STATEMENT WITHOUT FOUNDATION.

ELP suck massivley, i mean it made me sick at the stomach. I just dont understand why anyone would like ELP, its just an excuse for emerson lake and palmer to try showing off what they can do on their various instruments rather than having any cohesion or direction.

I'm very surprised how much KC is not appreciated (for me prog = KC, i'm a huge fan!).
For me, i would say Genesis : I woud try again only if their first albums were remastered (oh my god what a crappy sound).
Also Marillion, except for Marbles. I just can't with this band, but the last album is not good, it is brilliant !
The 80's Rush, Queen (except for the gorgeous "A Night At The Opera"), the 80's Yes,
It also seems it's really gonna be hard for me to love VDGG and ELP if I plan to get into it later.
EDIT : oh I forgot, Magma => . I tried, I tried and I tried but no.
